After three days of trekking through forests, desserts, and sometimes getting attacked by bandits, Yuno finally made it to Kikka where the exam will take place , he breathed a sigh relief and tightly secured the black sash tied around his wrist.
"We made it Asta"
Wasting no time, Yuno made his way down into the town, stalls of strange food, weird magic items, and assorted pots and other wares were being sold across the streets.
Yuno spotted the giant colosseum where the exam was taking place and joined in the line formed to get his ticket to participate
"your 163, next!" the register called, Yuno stepped forward
"Yuno from Hage Village"
"show me your grimoire please"
Yuno placed his four leaf grimoire, the register looked shocked at first but composed himself ripping a ticket a giving it to Yuno who accepted it
"Y-your 164 wait what the hell!?"
Yuno looked down to his surprise see the filthy grimoire sitting on top of his own, the register looked at Yuno with a judging look.
"what's that?" he reached down to inspect the tattered book
Yuno quickly swiped it out of the way along with his four leaf and placed them both back in his satchel 'this grimoire is really starting to freak me out' he thought.
"just- a journal- sorry its a bit filthy right now"
"I don't get paid enough for this, just head inside"
Yuno nodded and made his way inside the colossuem where the other participants were gathered, some looking nervous and some looking on with determination. Yuno found himself attracting the most attention
"he isn't that the four leaf grimoire kid from the boonies?"
"he's got a four leaf grimoire?! So jealous"
"yeah but he's a peasant, so he's not going to pass"
Yuno soon saw a small black, red, and white bird hovering just in front of him but it quickly dismissed him and flew away, the other participants however were not so lucky, with some getting pecked and harassed by two, three, or maybe more of the same birds.
"UH what are with these birds!?"
"there anti magic birds, the measure a person by their mana, if your mana is low more birds appear"
"I'm really nervous" one participant said, two anti magic birds hovering over her
"hey look at that guy" another applicant gestured towards Yuno, who had no Anti birds hovering near him
"guess that's a four leaf for ya"
" as expected from a guy with a four leaf grimoire"
Soon all the birds dispersed, and nine figures stepped out onto a raised platform before taking their seats on the chairs placed before them, each one being unique, their names were, William Vangeance, Nozel Silva, Fuegoleon Vermillion, Charlotte Roselei, Yami Sukehiro, Jack the Ripper, Gueldre Poizot, Rill Boismortier, and Dorothy Unsworth.
William Vangeance had the upper half of his face covered by a mask which was elegant and golden, with a large gold piece covering his right eye, while a smaller blue piece covered his left, the sides of the mask were lined with red and white fur and two white feathers sticking out. He wore an elaborate blue and white suit covered by a long red flowing cloak with a hood on the top.
