Surge had rolled himself into a ball. Inferno was just staring ahead blankly.
"Breez!" Surge moaned. "Please come back. Say this is all a nightmare."
"Surge," Inferno gasped "we have to...Breez would want us to...heros have to...Breez is and always will be a hero to the core."
"But...but..." Surge sobbed "she was my--our best friend. What will we--the team do without her. We're...down one hero. She...she didn't deserve it. She didn't deserve to die Inferno!"
"You think I don't know that? Breez was strong and brave and a true hero and Nutjob...he...took Breez away because he was evil."
"But, we always planned we'd be three heros Inferno. You, me and Breez. The three heros...forever. Forever just died on that ship." Surge said.
"Surge, Breez wouldn't want us to brake down. We need to get up FOR Breez. We need to fight so other heros don't have to do what she did. And we'll always be together, I promise." Inferno said
Outside the room, eavesdropping on their conversation, Clipper stood in thought. She was good friends with Breez. Surge was right, Breez hadn't deserved what had happened to her. And seeing the devastation of the two heros who were basically her brothers? Clipper felt as guilty as if she had shot Breez in the back. She had the same sibling relationship with Nex and Evo. She couldn't imagine losing a best friend and a sibling. But they had.
I'm sorry Breez, Clipper thought as she walked away, your are a true hero. I'm sorry I couldn't be there. I will not be making that mistake again.
