I stepped outside and felt the piercing, bitter breeze hit me. Everything seems to be frozen.
Since it's late October, of course it is chilly. The only problem is the temperature is one below freezing.
The normal temperature this time of year is around forty.
I go back into the house and get a heavier coat. I then remember, today is acceptance day for fashion designing. In other words, I will find out if I get to design the costumes for the musical. If I get this, it will be a great addition to my resume.
I finally arrive at the school. I hurry at my locker to make it to homeroom in time.
The morning announcements begin.
The principle gets on and makes our daily announcements, "hello students! Just a reminder that tomorrow is fall exams. You should have your exam room already. If there are any concerns, report to your assigned teacher. Now on to musical. Tryouts are tomorrow after school. For the fashion applicants, we have the results. The fashion designer for this years musical is-"
He stops short in his speech. After a few moments of utter silence, he finishes his statement, "the play director, Mrs. Merrill, would like to see Jenna Earnhart and Chloe Bridger in the auditorium. That's all the announcements for today. Have a great day!"
Confused, I make my way to the auditorium.
I walk up to Mrs. Merill.
"Hello Chloe and Jenna! Both of your applications were impressive, but I could not choose. Unfortunately only one of you will get the position. To decide who will design the costumes for this years musical, we will hold a fair competition. Each of you must design an entire line by tomorrow morning at eight sharp. Good luck, ladies."
Why the hell would Jenna even try to design? She hates making clothing.
Jenna walks up to me and whispers, "looks like little miss fashion isn't as talented as everyone thought."
I snap back with, "at least I'm not wearing a mini skirt from 2011," referring to the skirt I gave her back in the eighth grade.
She just rolls her eyes and walks out.
A few hours later, I head home. I already drew all the designs out and gathered materials.
It only takes me two hours to stitch and create the line. Beating Jenna is not enough to scare her away.
She needs to pay for what she has done. From the lies to trying to take my position away from me.
I know just the plan.
I open my computer. I already have Mrs. Merill's email, so I put a message together.
Mrs. Merill,
I have some concerns I would like to address with you. Can we meet at the Starbucks on first street?
Thank you for all your help!
Chloe
I get a reply a few minutes later.
Chloe,
Yes I would love to! How does 6:00 sound? See you there!
Mrs. Merill
It is currently 5:46, so I quickly change, and grab my purse.
When I finally arrive, I see Mrs. Merill waiting for me at the corner table.
I purchase us lattes and sit down.
"Hello Chloe! Thank you so much for the coffee! What's on your mind?" She inquires.
"Anytime. So I have all my designs made and the line ready for tomorrow. What do you think the odds are that you will pick Jenna?" I question.
"I would have to say, 50/50. It all depends what each of your designs are." She claims.
"Wow I am surprised you would still consider Jenna even with her past." I say while emphasizing the word "past".
"Past? I have not heard of such a thing. Elaborate." She says surprisingly.
"Well she attempted to charge me with four counts of physical harassment toward her. I still am not sure why. I could never hurt anyone. Literally, being 5'1 and petite is defiantly not an advantage point." I explain.
She looked furious at this point. "I certainly will never accept a liar. There was a box on the application to claim past behavior. Thank you very much for the information, Miss. Bridger. See you Monday for the first rehearsal." She says to me, winking.
Like I always say, revenge is key.
