I was planning gathering the duct tape and stuff I brough from my cabin to leave, when Chiron's voice boomed over the loudspeaker- which he only used for emergencies- startling Travis and I.

"Please note that, due to recent events, the temporary head councellor for cabin 4 has allowed cabin 11 to stay in their cabin- with support from the Hecate cabin- and they will be staying there until the cleaning of cabin 11 is over. The head councellors in charge for the time being are Miranda Gardner and Connor Stoll. The original head councellors are to stay in cabin 11 until the've cleaned the cabin."

"Excuse me, what the fu-" I stopped myself from finishing the thought aloud. "What? what does Chiron mean by that?"

The Hermes cabin demigods who were gathered near the door scattered after the announcement, some giving us a pitiful glance.

"Well at least I can get rid of Connor now," Travis said.

"Do you really not realize how unfair this is?" I questioned him,

"Well, I do, so from tomorrow- we're going to be cleaning the cabin even faster." he said. I didn't have any choice and just nodded, sighing.

"Wait, I have my own bunk bed now!" Travis exclaimed. I rolled my eyes at him, but he had grabbed a magical plate for dinner.

I didn't usually have dinner, since I wasn't used to it in my mortal life either.

"do you not have dinner?" Travis asked me, I just shook my head.

"My stepmother just... she gives it to my mortal sister. Since we have food that was left over from the earlier day, there isn't really much." I explained.

"Wait, why does your sister get it, then?" Travis asked me.

"She's four." I said. "I think a four year old needs better nutrition than I do."

He just shrugged. I put the magical plate back on the top of a shelf, and chose a bunk furthest away from the one Travis was in.

But no matter how much I tried, I couldn't sleep. I didn't know if Travis was asleep, but I didn't want to wake him up if he was.

I usually checked up on my cabin before sleeping. Made sure they were all okay. Oh lord, did Miranda give Elena a book to read if she gets a nightmare and wakes up in the middle of the night? What if Jade decides to-

I sighed, and got up from my bunk, my legs hanging off the edge of the bed.

I went over to the desk and got out a piece of paper. I grabbed the nearest pen and started writing

I was back up on the roof. I grew a plant growing in front of Cabin 11, I pinned the piece of paper on one of the thorns and grew it through the Demeter cabin.

The plant stopped growing right outside the Demter cabin window, and a girl with her brown hair tied in braids opened it. She took the piece of paper and nodded, turning around to face the rest of her cabin.

The light of the cabin lit up, and the shadows started moving. After a second, most of the lights switched off again and the silence returned.

I sat down on the edge of the roof with my legs dangling. My mind had finally returned to peace.

"So you can't sleep either?" Somebody asked me, I turned to see Travis.

"I'm sorry," I apologised, "for waking you,"

"That's really dangerous." He said, pointing to my position on the roof, before joining me. "Why were you up anyway?"

"Just... Miranda." I finally said.

"Yeah no, I'm just as worried about Connor," he said. "Is Miranda your full sister?"

"just as well as one," I replied. "she is only a few years younger to me and with a similar background,"

"Well, Connor is my full brother," he said. It was my turn to look at him. I raised an eyebrow as I turned to him.

"are you saying you and Connor are closer than me and Miranda?" I asked him.

"Yup," he said, smirking.

"Excuse me when have you spent seven weeks and three all-nighters making a gift for him because it was his first birthday?"

"dude I was too young to make a gift on first birthday!" he complained, "have you ever played an epic prank with her?"

"you would be surprised." I laughed, and he chuckled too.

I had a limited list of people who could make me laugh. Miranda, my dad, and my best friend who was sadly a mortal. Everly from preschool made me laugh a few times and my ex-girlfriend could also have made me laugh when we were together. I guess there was the guy who I used to play with in the park with Miranda, but I don't remember his name so he shouldn't count.

It was surprising Travis would've made it onto the list, but I guess I never really considered it. I had laughed a few times after his pranks, but in my act of hating it- I had never really noticed.

"reminds me." I said, breaking the silence, "why did you always prank us? There are, like... ten other cabins."

"Why did you always get so angry?" he asked, but his previous confidence was wavering.

I stared at his eyes, and he flinched. I laughed.

"you're lying," I concluded, turning my gaze back to the Demeter cabin. He scoffed, "proves my theory," I muttered. He looked at me once, but decided to look back at the stars.

I tried to stay awake to see if something would go wrong in the Demeter cabin, but my eyes suddeny became

When I woke up, there was a gentle light. It wasn't very late in the morning, but it wasn't pitch black either. The other cabins would be back at any moment.

Should I wake Travis up or should I let him get startles by all the noise and wake up suddenly?

I'm going down-
