Unspoken Troubles [on hold]

Chapter 8

There was a sadistic laugh

"You are mine, pet. You don't know it yet. You'll see me soon" his voice echoed through my head. I couldn't see anything around me. Darkness encompassed everything.

That voice sounded familiar, though I couldn't place it.

It felt like I started running. My body moving as fast as it could go. I was being chased by someone. They couldn't keep up. I made it. It felt like I crashed to the ground. Blackness still surrounding me. A light, a small light in the distance starting to get closer and bigger.

It crashed into me. I jolted up.

It was beautiful. The forest to my left and an elegantly flowing waterfall to my right. I got up and made my way to the waters edge, dipping my feet in. The refreshing calm making me wonder how I got here.

I heard rustling across the small river. A white wolf emerged. She had a glow around her body that was otherworldly.

"You are troubled my child." Her voice echoed in my head.

"Who are you?" I asked back, cautiously.

"I am the creator of your kind, goddess of the moon. Many call me Mother Moon. My child, I am sorry you suffered such pain. You must know there is a time coming in the future that will confuse you. They will try to trick you away from your family and friends. Trust in me and the path I have carved for you. Trust in the one I have given only to you, your mate. They have taken my children before and poisoned their minds and souls. They plan to do this to you and your child. Stay strong and do not sway, for I cannot then guide you. My child, know I love you. I love all my children. Do not trust the darkness." She tells me.

I watched her back into the forest where she emerged.

"CARLEY!!" I heard Daniel yell.

"I'm over here!" I called back. He ran through the foliage with a murderous look. "Is there anyone else here?" He questioned me looking for danger.

"I saw Mother Moon..."

He visibly relaxed when I spoke these words. "She came to you? What did she say?"

I recapped to him what she told me and he paled.

"They won't get you," he said pulling me to his arms. "They won't get you again. I'll protect you."

"I know" I replied smiling to him.

We walked back to the pack house. Him telling me how I gave everyone a heart attack by passing out. Then out of no where jumping up and running into the forest. He was shocked at my speed for an unshifted fem wolf.

"Tell me about shifting, what's it like? When will I shift?" I asked Daniel.

"Well we shift on our 21st birthday, which is about 2 months away for you? But with your pregnancy that will put it off til the pup is born." He said rubbing my belly.

"Child, Daniel. Child, not pup" I said, confused as to why he called my child a pup.

He laughed at my reply and said "We call our children pups. It's kind of a joke I guess, as we are part wolf."

"What do you look like as a wolf?" I asked him curious. "Can I see you shift?"

He looked at me shocked but replied "Sure" before stripping to his underwear. "Stand back a bit" he told me. I did as he said and when I was at a suitable distance.

He then shifted into this massive black wolf. He was blackest of black, with the same eyes as his human. He walked slowly towards me, as if gaging my reaction. When he reached me he sat down infront of me, then licked my face.

I giggled at this show of affection.

"Down boy." I said speaking to him as if he was a dog and patting him on his big furry head. He trotted of away from me and shifted back. He still had his underwear on.

"Great gift from Mother Moon, we can shift and still have our underwear to keep some decency. Clothes get shredded though" he told me pulling his clothes back on.

"Oh, that's great." I say to him.

"Are you alright?" he asks.

"Yeah lets get back." I reply grabbing a hold of his hand. And that's how we walk back to the pack house.
