Kira's POV
I was walking next to Derek. I couldn't understand why he acted like he did after the competition. His eyes were a goldish green like he wasn't in control of himself. I still couldn't get over hearing that voice. "Everything you thought you knew is about to change."
What was about to change? I let out a sigh and decided not to think about it. I noticed the concern in Derek's eyes. I look at him and give him a smile. Then I look out at the water. I felt Derek put his arm around my shoulders to comfort me. "Don't worry about what happened earlier. I will not let anything hurt you," he told me trying to comfort me.
I put my head against Derek's arm. It felt warm and comforting. Derek was more of a brother to me then my real brother Eric. Eric disappeared when I was seven. He was two years older than me. My parents had told me he went to live with my grandma. I had called my grandma that night and she told me Eric was not there. Why had my parents lied to me? Then I felt like someone was watching me making me feel uneasy. I pull away from Derek to look around, but I didn't see anyone. I wanted to go back to the shack to sleep. I felt like all my energy was being drained. "I think we should head back to the shack," I stated turning to my friends.
My head started to feel dizzy and then everything went black. I felt like I was falling through an endless darkness. After what felt like an eternity, I open my eyes to see I'm in a room. There were wolves all around me. One of the wolves step forward. Her fur is pure white like a fresh fallen snow. "It's time," she told me.
Then all the wolves' howls. Then I see different people walk in. They are not human. I don't know what they are. "Damn the council. Kira, you need to wake up. Wake up!" the wolf growled.
When I became conscious again, I noticed I was in my bed. It was morning and everyone was outside talking about what they were going to do today. I walk outside and feel uneasy. "Today everything will change," I heard the voice state again.
Then I hear a wolf howl. I look at my friends who apparently didn't hear the voice but did hear the wolf howl. I walk over and sit next to Derek and Jake on the log that we had turned into a bench. I look at the fire not wanting to look at them. "What happened yesterday?" I questioned.
Derek looks at me curiously. "What do you remember?" Derek asked curiously.
I shrug in response. "Last thing I remember is I wanted to come back to the shack. Then all of a sudden everything went black," I answered.
Derek nods in reply looking back at the fire. "Yeah, and I had to carry you to the shack," Derek stated.
I let out a sigh shaking my head. "I'm sorry. I don't know what happened I just felt like all my energy had been drained. I still feel like that a little," I mumbled looking down.
Jake and Derek look at each other with worried expressions. Then they looked at Zane and Sam. They all nod at each other. Then I felt all this pain rush through my body. My muscles began to hurt. I dropped to the sand landed on my hands and knees. I felt like I was in so much pain like someone was just breaking my bones. I felt tears falling from my eyes and onto the sand. Then I see instead of hands I had paws. I was covered in fur. My fur was pure white like a fresh fallen snow. It looked just like the wolf's fur in the dream. Was that a dream? I quickly ran into the woods. I ran until I found a small hole under a tree trunk that had been dug. I lay in the hole under the tree trunk and close my eyes. I couldn't understand what was going on. What happened to me? What am I? Was that a dream or was that my wolf? 'I told you it's time,' I heard a voice say in my head.
My eyes shot open when I hear a twig snap nearby. I growl at where I hear the noise. "Calm down. It's just me," I heard someone state.
It sounded like Derek. Then I see a dark brown wolf come out from behind the bushes. The wolf had green eyes that looked like Derek's. 'It's just Derek,' I heard the voice say in my head again.
I was confused. 'Who are you?' I questioned the voice in my head.
I could hear the irritation in her voice. 'I am your wolf,' the voice answered.
I was still confused. 'How can I hear you,' I asked her.
I could hear her sigh. 'You can hear me because I am apart of who you are,' she answered me.
'Oh,' I replied.
Then I see the dark brown wolf standing in front of me. "Kira is that you?" the wolf asked.
I look the wolf in the eyes and recognized it as Derek. "Yes Derek," I answered.
Derek gets a grin on his face sitting in front of me. "Great you do know it's me," Derek stated.
I roll my eyes shaking my head. "How can I forget your voice," I remarked.
Then I hear growls around us. Derek steps in front of me pushing me back into the hole under the tree trunk. "Stay low and be quiet," he ordered me.
I didn't question him. I crouch down in the hole. He crouches in front of me. He was trying to be as close to the ground as possible while still hiding me. I hear wolves get closer. "There is a wolf here; a new wolf the scent is too new," I heard a wolf state.
I heard another wolf growl. "Are you sure it's not a rogue? But if it is a new wolf that has just shifted do, we take it to alpha?" another wolf asked.
The first wolf had growled at the second. "If it is a new wolf, we will take it to alpha. However, if it is a rogue, it just better hope I don't kill it on the spot," the wolf answered.
One of the wolves sticks its nose in the air and catches a scent. "Derek, I know you're here," the wolf stated.
Stepping out from in front of me Derek goes over to the wolves. "What are you guys doing here? You know I live with some friends in a shack not far from here," he questioned the wolves.
"We know, but alpha wanted us to scout out the area for rogues," the wolf stated/answered.
"Is there any rogues around here, Derek?" another wolf questioned.
"No, but if there was, I would kill it on the spot," Derek answered.
Then I see a wolf walk in front of the tree I was hiding under. "Sir, I think you might want to come here," the wolf informed the others.
Another wolf walked over to where I was. He looked at me and growled. I whimpered and tried to go deeper under the tree but couldn't. These wolves were much bigger than me. I was actually quite small compared to them. "Shift," the wolf growled/snarled.
He walks away with the other wolves. They turned back to humans and get dressed. Derek brought me some clothes. "Kira don't be scared. Please shift," he told me.
Derek walked away and I shifted and got dressed. I walk out from behind the tree and look at the now dressed wolves. "What do you want?" I questioned.
One of them steps forward he was blond and had brown eyes. "Who are you?" he questioned.
I look at them not showing an ounce of fear. "My name is Kira. I'm Derek's friend," I answered not breaking each of their gazes.
Another wolf steps forward he looked to be about twenty his hair was a dark brown that almost looked black, and he had green eyes. "So, a rogue," he growled.
Derek growls stepping in front of me. "She's not a rogue!" Derek yelled/growled. "She just shifted."
