The Concert

Kira's POV

Listen to our story before it's too late. My name is Kira and I'm seventeen years old. My friends Chloe, Krystal, Zoey and I are getting ready to head to a competition today. The four of us have played in a band all throughout high school. However, this competition we plan to make our last. We are planning to disband the band after the concert. My friends Chloe and Krystal are identical twins with blonde hair and brown eyes. They are sixteen and are supposed to graduate next year. Zoey and I have just graduated high school. Zoey is eighteen and has vibrant red hair with green eyes. Her hair was always pulled up whether it was a ponytail or braided in some way. She has been my best friend since as long as I can remember. The two of us grew up together. Zoey and I ran away from home when we were nine. Our parents didn't even know we left at the time. To be honest we never saw them again.

I can still remember that day as if it was yesterday. Zoey and I had packed a bag to leave while our parents were talking in the back yard. We walked out of my house and walked to the beach. Zoey found an opening in the bushes that lead to the woods. We didn't know why but the second we stepped in the woods we felt at home. We ran through the woods until we found another beach. This beach seemed like it was remote. It felt like no one had ever been here. Zoey and I decided to make a shack in a spot that seemed like it would be hidden. After about a few hours we were done making the shack; we then made a place to make a fire. Once we had a fire made. We sat around the fire talking.

I look at Zoey with slight worry in my eyes. "Do you think that our parents will even realize we are gone?" I asked Zoey.

Zoey had a cold look in her eyes. She always hated her family. "I doubt it. They barely even paid any attention to us," Zoey remarked.

Then both of us heard a twig snap followed by a faint wolf growl. I turn to look behind me to see golden eyes of a giant wolf. The darkness was making it hard to see the color of its fur. I was scared and I noticed Zoey was too. I pushed the fear back and stood up. "Are you a werewolf?" I asked.

The wolf looked at me and I noticed the wolf nodded its head then left. I look at Zoey who was still struck with fear. "Let's put out the fire then go to bed," I stated.

Zoey just nodded in reply. I grabbed a bucket of water and poured it on the fire. Zoey and I went in the shack and fell asleep.

I will never forget that wolf and its golden eyes. It was an experience that was unexpected, and I felt like I would see that wolf again someday. "We're here!" I heard Chloe scream pulling me back to reality.

I looked out the truck window to see the entrance to the competition hall. I notice four guys standing outside talking. I quickly realized they were my friends Jake, Derek, Sam, and Zane. "The guys are here," I told the girls as I turned to look at them.

Chloe couldn't hide the smirk that crossed her lips. "If they're here to compete; then we're going to beat them," Chloe remarked.

Krystal nods in reply looking at me with a smile. "Yeah, since we have Kira; she can sing better than anyone here," Krystal stated.

Zoey nods in reply turning to get out of the truck. When we were getting out of the truck, I noticed something didn't feel right. I look around frantically it was then my eyes landed on a wolf. It seemed familiar, but I couldn't remember where I had seen it from. "Everything you thought you knew is about to change," I heard a voice say.

I looked at my friends they didn't seem to hear the voice. I look back to find the wolf gone. Then someone wraps their arms around me from behind. "Well, if it isn't Kira and her friends," the person stated.

I jumped slightly at the unexpected contact. I quickly brushed it off when I recognized who it was. I would recognize that voice anywhere. "Nice to see you Derek," I remarked.

Derek looks down at me slightly disappointed. "How did you know it was me?" Derek questioned.

A small giggle escapes my lips as I look up at him. "How long have we been friends now?" I answered.

I look up at Derek's face. Derek was nearly six feet compared to my five-foot five-inch self. He has dark brown hair and green eyes. Derek has always been like a brother to me. "Hey Derek, why don't you let her go so she can talk to the rest of us," someone remarked.

Derek eases his hold on me. I pull away and look at Jake, Sam, and Zane who were standing behind him. I noticed Jake was the one who said it. Jake had black hair and these dark blue eyes. Sam had blond hair and brown eyes. Zane had brown hair and hazel eyes. The four of them are fit because they all played on the football team. Derek and Jake had graduated high school with Zoey and me. "So, what are you four doing after the competition?" Jake asked us.

I shrug in response looking between all of them. "We might go to the coffee shop," I answered.

Derek rests his elbow on my shoulder. This resorted in me rolling my eyes. "Okay well how about whoever loses the competition has to buy?" Derek challenged.

Zane looked at Derek with pleading eyes. "I wouldn't Derek that's a set up," Zane warned Derek.

I shrug Derek's arm off of me. He shrugs at Zane's warning. "Don't be afraid we aren't going to lose," Derek shot back.

The girls and I got huge smiles on our faces and started giggling. "You're on," Chloe, Krystal, Zoey, and I reply in unison.

The eight of us start laughing as we start to head inside. Once we were inside, we look around at all the bands. "We have to beat them all to take the guys on in the finals," I told the girls and the guys.

All my friends nod in reply. The girls and I say bye to the guys until the concert is over.

The girls and I were beating band after band. When the finals came around. The girls and I ended up competing with the guys in the finals. It was a matter of who would beat who in the finals.

At the end of the concert the girls and I ended up getting first, and the guys got second. "Looks like you guys are buying," we teased the guys after the concert.

Zane punches Derek's arm walking ahead of him. "I told you Derek," Zane stated at Derek.

The guys admitted to their defeat. Derek looks at me and smiles. "You've gotten better. I'm glad to see you have improved," Derek told me sincerely.

I smile back at him shaking my head. "It's all thanks to you for helping me practice singing last summer," I replied back sincerely.

I begin to walk away and back to the truck. Halfway back to the truck someone grabs my wrist. I turn around to see Derek had grabbed my wrist. I look at him confused. "Derek are you okay?" I asked concerned.

His eyes looked like a goldish green then went back to their green color. "Yeah, I'm fine," he answered shaking his head.

He gave me a smile to reassure me. I still didn't know what was going on. It was sad to say I didn't believe him, but I wasn't going to push the issue anymore. To be honest I really did want to know, but on the other maybe it was best I didn't. "Okay, but just letting you know I don't believe you for a second," I remarked.

Derek sighs shaking his head. "I knew you wouldn't," Derek whispered under his breath, but somehow, I heard it.

I wave bye to Derek and get into the truck. I lean out the window. "Come on girls let's go!" I hollered to the girls.

I was curious to know what was going on with Derek, but I wasn't going to push Derek to tell me. It was best I acted like it never happened in the first place. The girls say bye to the other guys, and they jump in the truck. We headed for the coffee shop to grab some drinks. The guys were paying so we didn't plan on keeping it cheap. "So, Kira, what happened with Derek?" Chloe asked curiously.

I shake my head in response. "To be honest I don't know myself," I told them truthfully.

I knew they were going to ask, and I wasn't going to lie to them. If I did know maybe I would have, but since I didn't there was no point in lying.
