The Day I Went to Hell

Synopsis: The new trend among the kids is going to this place called "Hell" where...well, you go to hell, or at least, that's what they tell you, nobody will tell you anything more. And this family's children choose to go there for the first time. Kids ONLY though. Will it live up to the hype? We might die trying to find out.

Things are so strange these days. The trends that catch on among (us) kids, well there was this one trend that I was sort of forced into. The weekend it happened, my parents were attending one of their late friend's funerals, however, they didn't find it suitable that we come. They were so in distress by their friend's passing that the thought of leaving us alone, hadn't even crossed their minds as a potential obstacle. Another reason why might've been because everything happened very last minute, my parents had been informed the morning of the funeral, so they didn't have time to arrange much of anything.

However, even though it appeared as if we had just gotten off the hook for being home alone, my goody two shoes fifteen year old, adopted brother, Charles just HAD to say something. He asked in his very brown nose voice,

"Mother, Father, may we go to Hell today?"

Now our mother and father were not quite up to date on the current day trends, so Charles explained to them. And then Gretel, my ten year old sister, who always wanted to be a part of the latest trend, jumped in. She began to tell our parents with much excitement all about it, but before she could finish with what could've gone on for a while, our parents cut her off before she could finish. They gave us money for it and begged for us not to leave the place a mess as they drove us to Hell. And then they left, and I was at the mercy of my siblings, and their bizarre desire to go to Hell.

Apparently you aren't supposed to tell anyone about what happens when you go to Hell, but of course people did, and people loved going. People would bring their dates there, and even in some cases, parents would take their children as well. We reserved our tickets online and within the hour, we were there.

My other brother fourteen years old brother, Thomas, never really showed interest in much of anything, but in this he was interested in. I wasn't really for the whole trip to Hell, but I wasn't going to make anybodies life harder, so I kept my mouth shut. But as I watched my parents car drive away, I totally wished I had.

Gretel quickly hurried me along, into the huge into the huge movie theatre like building. All black with big red letters on the front of the building that read "Hell". It was just like going to the movies, we gave our tickets to the guy at the ticket booth, and he let us in. Even the seats looked like a movie theatre. We had balcony seats, and we sat down in a row, Gretal next to me, Charles and Thomas on the end. We just sat there for a while and waited. Everybody was so excited, they were all jumping in their seats. I took this dead moment to look around and fully examine my surroundings. The room was less like a movie theatre and more like an auditorium, or rather like an opera hall; only instead of a tiny stage to look at, there was a gigantic television screen-like scrim that hung down, stretching below where I could see. I scanned the area below our balcony and saw other rows of seats, the rows continued until they reached another balcony, which reached further forward than our balcony did. I tried to see what was beyond it, but all I could see was total blackness.

Gretel turned to me and was about to speak when the whole auditorium went black. And then the screaming began. Ear wrenching screams from all around including Gretal's-the whole place shook just from the immense sound of the screams. And then a loud voice came over an intercom system, a demonic-like devil voice,

"Everything you experience today must remain a secret, it is vital to the survival of the human race, that is, if you care."

Then from all around the sounds of the other kids erupted again, with cheering and clapping, then everything actually began to shake, not from the voices, but from something else. The cheers turned into screams and grew louder and louder as the shaking grew more vicious.

Suddenly the gigantic screen in front of us illuminated the auditorium in a dark shade of red. I was not enjoying myself, how could this be fun! I turn and see to my dismay, my sibling all screaming and yelling cheerfully with smiles on their faces, as if nothing were the matter. The shaking became even more furious, then suddenly without warning the whole auditorium flipped upside down. I grabbed the armrests on the chair, but I couldn't find a good grip. I now hung from my seat, which was above me now, by just the tips of my fingers. Terrified, I look around to see if this was happening to the others, it wasn't though. They all appeared to have seat belts on their seats, how could I have missed this? I looked up and found out why, my seat for some reason didn't have a seatbelt! I called out for my siblings to help me, but they didn't appear to notice me, or even be frightened by the sudden change in gravity; in fact, they were actually smiling as if they had never been this happy in their lives.

Then the room flipped back to normal, I fell back to my seat and hit the arm rest hard. I cringed, I thought could this get any worse! Then I suddenly feel the temperature in the room rise, and then I'm sweating. The room tilts forward now, and I am thrown from my seat, I try to catch the balcony in front of me, but I fail and free fall down to the other rows below. As I fall the sound of screams coming from all around turned into a tornado of sounds around me. I land awkwardly on my back on the back of someone's chair, I accidentally tap the back of their head as I come down, but they don't seem to notice. Pain shoots my back, as I writhe in pain on the ground at someone's feet. I look up and see that they don't even notice me, the kid is just sitting there in his seat with a big smile on his face, screaming, like he was on a rollercoaster.

I attempt to get the kids attention to help me, but before I can the room is tilted forward again, I am sent forward once more. I don't have a chance to catch onto something, I am thrown through the air, knocking into empty chairs and occasionally a person, but through all of this commotion, still, nobody helped. They all seemed to be in that trance of being on a rollercoaster, possessed by whatever it was that might've had control over them in here. I was now in an uncontrollable tumble and soon I was on the final row of seats just before the balcony, after which there was nothing, but blackness. I catch myself on the balcony wall before I can go up and over.

I'm breathing heavily, realizing how close I had come to falling into the abyss of darkness below. As I lay there, positioned so that my back was against the balcony wall, I looked up at the teenage couple that sat before me. Their eyes were closed and they were in the same state of pure excitement and happiness as everybody else. I scream and curse at them, but still they don't hear me. I push against the ground, closer to them, I grab their legs and shake them, hoping that this will wake them. Hoping that at last they would wake up and this whole nightmare would be over, for then at least I wouldn't be alone.

But it doesn't work. I fall back against the balcony wall, in awe at how none of my efforts to provoke anyone to help me had worked. Then the room tilts again. And I feel the pressure of my back against the balcony wall increase, and suddenly I am battling gravity. The room starts to turn upside down again, I realize as the pressure from my back begins to subside and I feel my weight begin to move up. Thinking quickly I grabbed the bottom of the chair in which one of the teenagers sat. As the room flipped upside down again, I found myself dangling from the bottom of the seat, awkwardly. Awkwardly that my forearm begins to bend, it hurts, but if I let go, I fall. It becomes too unbareable and I let go and helplessly grab the teenage boy's leg for dear life. I successfully latched on and hold on for dear life. The boy's expression slowly changes, and his eyes open and he looks down at me, his eyes wide, he does not say anything, he looks possessed, horrified at the sight of me.

Then the room shifts back sideways again and I am this time thrown back towards the row of seats, I let go of the boys leg and go tumbling backwards again, however, before I can grab anything the room shifts once more and I am again tumbling back towards the last row on the balcony. I manage to turn, but as I do, I am face to face, parallel with the screen, I am at a high altitude than I had been before. My legs are the only thing that can reach the balcony, as I free fall forward, I prepare my legs to catch the balcony. I reach it, my legs connects, it catches from the knees down, my knees buckle and I am sent falling down into the abyss. As I fall, I see that the gigantic red scrim of a screen does not end at any specific point. I fall into the endless dark abyss and soon lose consciousness from the immense anxiety.
