I'm sitting alone at a table, lalabas na sana ako but suddenly someone bump me .

Kaya nag sorry agad ako  "Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t see you there."

"Watch where you’re going next time." she said coldly

nagulat naman ako kong sino nabanga ko, I can sense the tension in the air

"Uh, Lia, right? from Finn’s circle of friends?"

Tinignan nya naman ako ulo hanggang paa "Yeah, that’s me. I heard you went on a date with Finn." di agad ako nakabawi sa sinabi nya

"uh, yeah, we did. It was just one date, though." ngumiti naman ako sa kanya

Lumapit naman s'ya sakin "Right. Look, I know you probably think Finn is a great guy and all, but you need to be careful." binabantaan n'ya ba ako?

" What do you mean?" confusion was written on my face

"Finn just got out of a serious relationship. He’s not ready for anything serious right now. You’ll just end up being his rebound." she said bluntly

" I understand your concern, but Finn and I are just getting to know each other. We’re not jumping into anything." I feel like so defensive right now

" I’m just warning you, Neriah. Finn’s ex meant a lot to him, and he’s not over her yet. Don’t get hurt in the process."

I feel so uneasy" Thanks for the heads up, Lia. I’ll keep that in mind."

Lia just give me  a meaningful look before walking away, leaving me to ponder her words.

Nakauwi na ako sa apartment ko until now hindi ko padin nakalimutan sinabi ni lia, para akong tanga dito sa loob

I was sitting on the couch, with a deep thought. It replays our conversation in my mind, feeling conflicted

Napaisip naman ako "Should I be worried about Finn still being hung up on his ex? am i just setting myself up to get hurt?"

I pull out my phone and considers texting Finn, but hesitates. I doesn’t want to overthink things, but Lia’s words have planted a seed of doubt in my mind.

Pumunta ako café, hoping to clear my mind with a cup of coffee. As i waits in line, i spots Finn entering the café.

He approaches me when he saw me

"Hey, Neriah! fancy seeing you here again." saka lumapit sakin

"Hey, Finn. what brings you here?" ang bobo naman ng tanong mo neriah, malamang e café to pinagalitan ko pa sarili ko

"Mind if I join you?" before ako makasagot naka upo na sya

" Uh, sure."

He's looking ate sguro he notices subdued demeanor and furrows his brow.

"Is everything okay, neriah? you seem a bit off." tumango naman ako kasi nakakunot na noo n'ya

I cleared my throat "I had a interesting encounter here last night."

"oh? what happened?" he's concerned

"it was Lia. She warned me about getting involved with you, Finn. said I’d just end up being your rebound." I was so hesitant to tell him

"Lia said that?" he said while looking at me

I nod "yeah. She seemed pretty convinced that you’re still hung up on your ex."

he sigh "Look, Neriah, I won’t deny that my breakup was tough, but I’m not using anyone as a rebound especially not you." he assured me

Isa sa napansin ko kay finn, he's not like the other boy, who is blunt and full of red flags. Instead, he's a man of his word, dependable and sincere. His actions speak louder than words, setting him apart with integrity and reliability.

" Are you sure, Finn? because I don’t want to get hurt." ano bang meron samin wala naman?

" I understand your concern, Neriah. And i appreciate your honesty. But i promise you, I’m not looking for a rebound. I’m just trying to figure things out, one day at a time." he smiled

I feel relieved "okay. I trust you, Finn.

" Thanks, Neriah. that means a lot to me."

As we continue our conversation, i can’t help but feel grateful for lia’s warning. It may have caused my momentary doubt, but ultimately, it brought me closer to Finn and helped me see his true intentions.
