The library was a wondrous place. There existed tall bookshelves that towered over people, a grand staircase which led you up to the second floor, and of course enourmous violet stained glass windows against the ceilings and shimmering blue stained glass windows along the walls. The floors were glossy, as the light had shined onto them majestically. She realized that there was blood on her hands, and she sighed. Steven's blood. She couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that her soon to be husband was so desperately trying to steal the palace's ring.
She couldn't understand the darkness that had washed over him. The terror and mayhem that rested in his eyes.
How he gazed at her in the kitchen in a way that a lion would towards its prey. She wanted her mother. She wanted her father. She wanted to speak to her bestest friend Francis. But she was alone.
As she approached the second floor of the library, she'd began checking multiple bookcases for a hidden passageway to outside of the palace. She needed to escape before the intruders caught up to her. She needed to escape before Lucian could get to her.
Suddenly, she inhaled sharply as she heard a loud noise from down below her. The two heavy doors had been busted open, as it erupted with two large men in armor, and a blonde haired man with a bloody arm. The library was dark, only the glimmers of the colored windows filling in the space of light.
The princess held her breath, as she scurried to the back of behind a bookshelf. Quickly, she began to touch random books in a frenzy, desperately searching for the passageway. She couldn't die now. Not without saying goodbyes at least. Not by the hands of her corrupted fiancé.
She heard a chuckle from down below that bounced off of the walls and echoed throughout the entire room. "Darling? Let's stop it with games now. Why don't you come out and speak to your husband."
"You are not my husband." She whispered to herself underneath her breath. And just as she did, she discovered that when she pressed a brown book, it opened a dim hallway that was lit with torches against the wall. The floors were a dark concrete, the walls a faded cherry color. At the end of the hall, she saw an opened cage that revealed the twilight of the night, and the dark mystic forest. Gently, she shut the passageway door behind her and ran towards the opened, iron gate.
The cool air of the night had hit her face as if she had dove into an ice cold lake. The wind blew her curls away from where they were on top of her chest, to behind her ears. She wrapped her arms around herself, as she felt the wetness of rain greet her clothes. And with icy fingers and all of her strength, she had shut the gate carefully and wrapped the chain that was on the ground beside it, around it so it would lock.
"Took you long enough." A bored voice said.
The princess was met with a dark haired, pale eyed man who was leaned against the dark brick wall. He had been dressed in silver armor, and held a rough gaze at her, and locked his jaw as he took her in. There was a black horse beside him
She rolled her eyes at him and uncrossed her arms, and placed them on her hips. "Are you even a real knight?"
Chrissa knew exactly who he was. He had been one of the men that had guarded the palace at night, but never a full blown knight. He was merely a security guard. Knights would fight in battles, and often had royal blood.
Suddenly, she heard heavy footsteps and an explosion coming from the hidden passage way. "Christabelle? I know you're out here. I order you to come to me now at this instant!" Screamed an all to familiar voice.
The dark haired man chuckled, as he climbed atop his dark horse. "Does it really matter if you're about to be killed?" He spoke, as he then reached out a hand to her.
