"Hey Mary, Lillian came over to tell us that dinner is at seven. It’s six now, so do whatever you need so that you’ll be ready on time." Mom says as she sticks her head into my room.
"Okay, I’ll be ready. Thanks for letting me know." I say while finishing up the last details in my closet.
"Your room looks amazing. I really love it."
"I do too. Thanks mom." I say while walking into the bathroom.
"Be ready and at the door at seven please." She says as she walks out of my bedroom and closes the door after her.
I turn on the shower and wait for the water to heat up. Once the temperature is to my liking I get in. After washing all the airplane grime and smell off me, I turn the water off and get out of the shower.
I dry my body off and look in the mirror. Seeing that I look a lot more presentable I open the drawers under the sink, grab my brush and brush through the tangles in my hair. I plug in my blow dryer and dry my hair to perfection. Once I finish with my hair I put on a little bit of powder, mascara, eyeliner and tinted Chapstick that tastes like cherries. Yum.
Wrapping a towel around myself, I step out of the bathroom and walk into my closet. Standing there for a few minutes trying to think of the perfect outfit, I decide to just start searching through everything until I find something. I want to make a great impression and I want this boy that used to be my best friend to like me. He may be the only friend I make here so I have to at least look decent.
Going through my closet, I deem everything to not be suitable for dinner tonight.
After what seems like hours of looking I finally find the perfect thing to wear. It is a sand colored knit cardigan with a black skin tight crop top under, light wash jean shorts, a thin brown belt, a long gold colored necklace with a feather as the charm, golden colored bracelets, and white keds to finish off the look.
After putting everything on, I look in the mirror and am satisfied. Walking out of my closet and looking at the clock on the end table next to my bed, I see that I have a minute to get downstairs. I grab my phone and walk out of my bedroom as my dad yells up the stairs. "Mary! It’s time to go!"
"I’m right here, there’s no need to yell" I joke while skipping down the stairs.
"You look beautiful." My mom says with a smile.
"Thank you. Are you guys ready to go?"
"Ya, let's head on over." My dad says while opening the front door and ushering us out.
A faint 'Ding dong' is heard through the door when the doorbell is rung. After a couple seconds Lillian opens the door and cheerfully says, "Hi, come on in. Tom and Lucy are both in the living room so you can all head in there while I finish dinner up."
"Need any help?" My mom asks.
"No! You are my guests, and it’s only finishing touches before I put it in the oven. It'll be done in no time."
"Okay great" my mom says while making her way into the living room. Lillian walks into the kitchen and my dad and I follow behind mom.
When we get into the living room I look around. There is a big L shaped black leather couch with short glass coffee table in front. Across from the couch is a brick fireplace with a huge flat screen TV mounted above. The walls are a tan color and decorated to perfection.
"Hi." I hear a little voice say as my leg is tapped. I look down to see a cute little girl with light brown hair and beautiful little chocolate brown eyes wearing a big pink princess like dress. I squat down so that I am eye level with her and with a smile I say, "Hi, you must be princess Lucy."
