         Boom !
I found myself spread out on the ground in a hollow, few meters behind Farax Ronchard who did not seem to be aware of my presence. He was sniggering.

My eyes scanned the surroundings: trees as far as the eye could see. The vegetation was thick. A forest, no doubt. But which one?

"Rich! I'll be rich! He he he!"

The gnome had not just taken me with him, the chain and the chair it was tied to had followed us in the teleportation.

Still lying on the ground, disoriented by the thunderous landing, I shook my head to set my mind straight. Before me, the gnome bent over and pulled on the chain which still held him prisoner before giving up grumbling.

Standing on the hillock in front of me, he looked for something before him.

"Ah! Here it is!"

He walked forward and soon was out of my sight.

"Non! " I whispered.

I started up the slope crawling, ignoring the thorns picking my palms. When I reached the top, I looked for him with my eyes. There! Below, he was going down to a... door?

Further down, the ground formed a new bump in which a round door was embedded. Ronchard grabbed the knob and turned it with a last look for the outside and disappeared inside.

I jumped to my feet and rushed down the slope to the door. After a second of contemplative hesitation, I inhaled deeply and went for the knob. I turned it, but instead of opening, the door let out a strong light and a wave of power pushed me away. I landed on my rear six feet behind.

"I see..."

This door had been programmed to recognise supernatural creatures. I walked to the door again, searched my pockets and took out a small pocketknife. With it, I poked my palms in three different places to form an inverted triangle. I waited for each of the small scratches to give a drop of blood, then I coated my hands with dirt.

"I hope it's going to work, otherwise, this is gonna to hurt!"

I put my hands flat on the door and pulled a face as I closed my eyes, expecting a bad blow.

"Aperiens!"

I opened one eye.

Click.

The door opened ajar, I slipped inside.
