-Why? Ally! Why did you have to do that! – Gus yelled behind her while she paced quickly through her front door and closed it behind her- I told you I would take care of it!

-Why are you being such an asshole!- she yelled back behind the door- I was just trying to be helpful!

He sat down by the door, listening to her sobs, his head throbbing with a splitting headache.

She'd ambushed him! He should have known right when she invited him for lunch at a classy restaurant. It wasn't her style, nor was his. He should have known...

-Gus! This is my friend Rita- she'd introduced the tall, lean blonde lady sitting opposite to her when he arrived at the place.

He shook her hand firmly and exchanged pleasantries before sitting down by Ally's side with a confused look in his eyes.

-So!- Ally started- Rita here works at a Head Hunter company, so she might help you a lot with your job search!

-Really?- He dragged the word glaring at her and then calmly turning to Rita – Is that so?

Rita nodded smiling

-Ok- he said after a deep breath- Do you have any options in the engineering field?

She bit her lips nervously

-Well... not exactly. But I have a great client that's looking for qualified technicians- Rita offered

-But I'm not a technician- he smiled painfully- I'm an engineer

Rita waved her hand dismissing him – The pay is good, sweetheart, you can start from there and then move up

-Come on handsome, is not that bad, it's a good start!- Ally chimed in

He adjusted himself in his seat, uncomfortable, and then he extended his hand to the blonde woman.

-Well, Rita. Thanks, but I am already looking for options in my own field by myself so... thank you for your time anyway - He stood up while shaking her hand – Now, If you excuse me, I have to go.

He stormed out and beelined to his truck, fuming. He sat in the cab for a minute, staring at his hands on the wheel.

Suddenly, the passenger door cracked open and in barged a very angry Ally

-What the fuck Gus? Why did you have to be so rude!

He instantly peeled off the parking lot, his knuckles white, holding tight to the wheel and gritting his teeth as he sped through the cars blocking her shouts and nonsense until he finally parked by her apartment.

When he did, she got off the van immediately, slamming the door shut and pacing quickly to her door.

He caught up with her in no time, reaching for her arm, but stopping himself a second later

-Why? Ally! Why did you have to do that! I told you I would take care of it!

-Why are you being such an asshole! I was just trying to be helpful!

He sat there, trying to calm himself down, massaging his temple. And after a while, he could tell her sobs were dying out.

-Are you done with your tantrum now? He asked leaning on the door

After a few moments, he heard the knob rattling and she opened it. He turned to look at her, with her puffy eyes and reddened nose, sitting on the floor on her side of the door, just as he was.

-Yeah, I am- she pouted her lips looking at her feet.

-Come here- he said wiping away a tear and pulling her towards his chest, making her sit between his legs.

They remained that way for a long time, in silence, listening to each other's heartbeat.

-Princess- he sighed- Please, please... Just let me take care of this by myself.
