Okay, lets talk about this one. This one is one that some people use as just a small plot point, a little thing to advance the story along slightly. It delegitimizes the incredibly real threat of bullying.
Bullying is not something to be taken lightly. It drives people to self-loathing, regret, and sorrow, as well as much more. It kinda pisses me off that some people take bullying as just "Oh, I get bullied, but its okay, haha lol, *insert more story here*".
I'm a victim of bullying myself, amomg thousands of millions, and it haunts me everyplace I go. It taught me to hate myself, beat myself down for every mistake, and just about damn near killed my self confidence, and my courage didn't exactly escape unscathed either. People decide, "Hey, I'm going to include bullying as a factor in this story.". That's perfectly fine!
But, please. Do research on it. Learn about it. See what it does to the mind itself. It will help the story along GREATLY. It will feel like the character is actually getting bullied, and it will feel like a more real threat.
Or don't. It's YOUR story, not mine. YOUR idea, not mine. You get to decide. If you wanna listen to some random writer, go ahead. If you wanna listen to you, go ahead. It's your choice. I'm just putting in my two cents in the matter.
