I was just staring at my ceiling. Just watching it. I couldn't sleep. No. Sleeping was out of the question. I tried to sleep but no matter what I did I couldn't. I just couldn't sleep. I felt my head start to throb from over thinking. The throbbing pain caused me to grab my head and groan in pain. "Fuck!"

As the throbbing started to leave my head I sat up, causing me to get head spins. I steadied myself before I heard the front door quietly open then shut once again. Who would be up this early?

I decided not to worry about that and go for a bike ride to clear my mind. I could see outside now, so I should have been fine ridding around the streets to the shops or something. Maybe even get some breakfast. That would be nice. Breakfast from the café. A nice caramel milkshake. Yum.

Before I knew it I had put my socks on and picked up my shoes. I tiptoed out towards the back door. I opened it slowly making sure it wouldn't creek, but of course it did. It was about four inches wide, when I slid through it. I got through it perfectly, though I wasn't expecting a problem. I was way to skinny for a boy, and that did worry some people, but it didn't worry me.

I slipped into my shoes and ran down to Tom's old bike. It was still in very good condition so I don't actually know why he got a new one.

I jumped onto his bike and road off up the hill. The hill was really easy to ride up and it was extremely fun riding down. Feeling the wind in my hair was amazing. It felt like cold fingers running through my hair. And it calmed me.

Before I knew it I could see the shops up ahead. I just left the bike outside of the shops knowing that no one would touch it. The people around here were trustworthy. And because everyone knew one another here, if there was someone who was likely to steal things, the whole town would taunt them until they left.

I walked over to the café and ordered my milkshake. I sat down at the table right in the corner to avoid talking to anyone. Although Maddie did spot me, and she did come up to me. Maddie was addicted to drugs and sex. She would have been walking to 'her corner' either to meet her drug dealer, who in fact wasn't James, or wait for a client. She was a sick girl. Fucking anyone she could. She always looked like crap. Her red hair was tied up in a messy, very high pony tail, and her skirt was so short that I could literally see half of her arse. It was revolting. What was worse was her yellow teeth. And her shirt. If you could call it a shirt. It was practically just a bra that showed a lot of cleavage.

"Heya!" She greeted as she sat down. I didn't even look at her when I said, "hi."
"I heard about what happened," she said quietly, "I'm sorry for your loss."
"I don't need your pity." I replied angrily. Everything about her made me angry. She was a skank. All she was looking for was a good time.

"What's up your arse?" She replied angrily frowning.
"Just leave me alone." I replied, the I took a sip of my milkshake, "I don't want you here."
"I figured." She replied rolling her eyes before standing up and walking away.

Finally she was gone. I could enjoy my milkshake in peace. I smiled and practically drank my whole milkshake. But there was always that little bit left in the cup that I could never get, and it annoyed me.

The ride home was calming. Although the hill slowed me down a lot. As I rode into the driveway, I saw Katie sitting against the wall next to the door, with her knees held up to her chest. Her head was buried into her knees, and by the looks of it she was crying.

I ditched the bike and ran over to her. "Katie? What's wrong?"
"What are you doing here?" She replied though tears, "I didn't think anyone else was up."
"I went for a ride. But that's not the point. What has got you so upset?" I asked.
"I saw Blake.."
"You saw Blake?" I asked, "where?"
"At the cemetery."
"We have to go back."
"No! We can't."
"But you have too. He wanted to tell you something."
"I don't want to listen. I'm not ready.." Katie replied softly.
"Okay. It's okay.. Don't cry."
