Naya

"To Naya!" Danica shouted over the bass-booming music in the nightclub, shot glass raised in the air.

"Cheers!" we said in unison, clinking our cups with some of the liquor in our cups spilling over. We took the shots, welcoming the fun night we were going to have.

Tonight, Danica, myself, and a couple other mutual friends were celebrating me getting the lead role in Hamilton.

I found out this morning, crankily waking up to the endless pings my phone was making. My mood was sour because of the interrupted sleep, but when I read the notification that was the culprit of my alarm, I remember blinking countlessly. What I was reading could only be a figment of my imagination.

"The cast for winter's Hamilton showing on December 14th is:"

And there, in the first-row second column, read: "Eliza Schuyler Hamilton – Naya Reid"

It took a second for me to process it as I sat there with a dumb look on my face. When it finally dawned on me that I got the part I had strived to get for years, I jumped happily on my bed, then stopped because I'm not a kid anymore and my adult self would most likely break my mattress.

Never give up on your dreams since you never know how close you are to obtaining them. Life lessons with Naya, everyone. (And every influential person on the planet.)

So here we are at the club now, dressed like a group of vixens prepared for a night of debauchery. Danica was the first person I called to break the news and she instantly threw on her party-planning shoes and got us all together. Plus, it was a Friday night and I'm sure she just wanted an excuse to go out.

"Are we ordering more shots or what?" Lisa, one of the girls, asked. "One is not going to get to the buzz I'm hoping for."

"You'll probably be ordering ten with your tolerance, Lisa," Danica responded and we all laughed. "We're getting more drinks of course. My best friend deserves it."

She hugged me and I smiled, the other girls cheering in the midst probably for me and the drinks.

"But where's our food?" Jasmine, another one of the girls, questioned. "We can't do all of this drinking on an empty stomach."

"Yeah, where are they?" Mila, the last of our group, added head turning to search for any of the waiters who were bussing the tall circular tables.

"Well they better get here because I threw some money down on those wings," I stated and Danica rolled her eyes.

"I should've made you spend more," she uttered and I faked a gasp, the other girls laughing beside us.

Our food came shortly after with the drinks we had ordered too. Lisa kept asking for more drinks before the waiter got fed up and just handed us the bottle, telling us it was free of charge so he could finally get rid of us. We were cracking up.

I was probably three drinks in before I started feeling a little drunk. I was much more interested in the food though because whoever was in that kitchen must have put their entire back into it. It was freaking delicious.
