Fallon was busy planting trees when her mother stormed out of the house with a bag. She was used to her mom throwing a tantrum here and there, but never with a bag. She was getting seriously tired of her step-mom being an annoying disturbance in the order of universe.
She let out a sigh and picked up her gardening tools, and went over to her step-mom and dad arguing.
"She can't stay!" Jaqueline was saying, in her usual I'm a princess and I only got 5 million dollars when I wanted 5.1! Oh the injustice! tone. With a start, Fallon realized they were talking about her.
She wasn't the eavesdropping kind of person, she was a nice girl with nice behavior and no will to drop in on a convo that she shouldn't hear. But she couldn't help herself. She decided to hang back and listen to them talk.
"But, dear, she's my daughter! I can't just throw her out." Her dad said defensively, anger in his voice. Fallon was releived her dad was still on her side. She stopped herself from running in and hugging him.
"Either her, or me. Choose now, Evan!" Jaqueline said as she continued making her way to the main road. Evan wasn't stopping her this time, and he looked like he was done with her.
"Fine. I choose my daughter. Go die in a rotten hole, Jaq. You don't deserve an amazing daughter like Fallon anyways. I should have never married you. Go away, I'll send the divorce papers in as soon as I can. And, if you ever get close to my daughter, know that no one will be worse news for you in the universe than me." Evan's tone was dangerously calm, with an undertone of the same threat he'd given Jaqueline.
Jaqueline looked like she was going to cry, which Fallon and Evan wouldn't have minded, but she went out front, called a taxi, and drove away.
Evan turned around and saw Fallon standing in shock, on the verge of tears. He rushed forward and hugged her. "It's okay, sweetie. You're not getting away from me." He said as he patted her back.
Fallon berried her face in his chest. "D-Dad?" She said in a low whisper.
"Yes, Fallon?" Her dad asked, still patting his daughter.
"I don't want to go."
"Oh Fallon... You're not going anywhere, you can go when you're ready. I'll talk to the dorm warden tomorrow, it's okay. We're staying here." Evan said gently, and Fallon let out a sigh of relief. All she ever wanted to be with her dad, to be normal for once. But of course, she wasn't normal. She wondered whether to tell her dad about the weird t-rex shaped figure now... No, not yet.
"Let's go inside." Evan pulled out of the hug and walked inside their small, cozy house. It was simple white with a side lawn and a cobblestone pathway to the front. The entrance gate was nothing special, just a white wooden door with a kitty door at the bottom. The inside was like any other normal family house, with a fireplace burning in the far wall, a table and sofa set on the left, with Christmas decorations all around. It was December, after all. Fallon lover her house, it was her dream house come to life.
She and Evan sat down on the sofa, blankets around them, and Evan got up to make them both cups of hot chocolate, with extra marshmallows and blob-shaped cookies on the side. Just Fallon's favorite.
