It was a Friday night and Gon was counting the minutes. He watched as the clock slowly ticked. He dug his toes into his skin, his hands clutching the soft fabric of the blanket, waiting in anticipation. The clock finally hits twelve and the young boy threw the sheets away, leaping out of his bed.
He hurried to his closet, fling clothes everywhere until he found his favorite outfit. He wore his signature green jacket, shorts, and boots. After looking at himself in the mirror, he went to open the door quietly, not wanting to wake his aunt or grandmother up. Once he made it out of the house, he made his way to the forest.
Every year on his birthday he would come out and look at the stars. This time, he decided to go to the place he and Killua went. He wondered if his best friend was also currently looking at them. Gon smiles widely, laying down on the ground. Memories of his adventures flooded into his mind. The time he spent with his friends, all the crazy fights he participated in or witnessed, and the times he would run away from Hisoka.
Gon grabbed a fake flower out of his pocket and stood up. He walked over to a grave that had a photo of Gon's other friend Retz. Sure the body wasn't buried there, but it was the only place he can go to honor her memory without taking a ship. He crouches down and placed the fake flower in a vase. He stayed there, remembering the time he spent with her.
At that moment, he didn't know that was the last time he'll honor her memory or cherish his other ones. At least, not for a very, very long time.

The sun raised over the ocean, making it glimmer and shine. Gon had stayed up the entire time, just wandering around the forest. He was just getting ready to head home, not wanting to worry his aunt if he stayed out too long. He passed through Kon's territory to quickly say hello to him and his cubs. After that, he followed the river home.
It was a peaceful walk, although something was out of place. An unfamiliar scent lingered in the air and he stopped to investigate. He followed the scent that smelled like smoke, thinking there was a fire in the forest. Gon turned around and when he did, his world became black.
A man with slicked back hair had punched Gon's neck with a bat. The same man carried the boy over his shoulder and grabbing a large cloth out of his pocket. He threw it over them, covering them up before slowly falling. When the cloth hit the floor, they were gone.

A man sat on a brown chair, hands under his chin. His fluffy white hair was combed and his suit's tie was knotted perfectly. He stared at a place in front of him, anticipating someone. Eventually, a white cloth appeared out of nowhere, revealing the same man from before with a young boy over his shoulders.
"I got your lab rat here, just as you asked," the man stated, placing the bat's end to the ground. He placed the boy down carefully, not wanting to wake him up. The man in the suit looked at the boy, judging him.
"He'll do. You can go now, I'll send the money to your account as soon as possible," the man explained, standing up to take a closer look at the boy. The younger man nodded his head, before picking up his cloth and throwing it in the air. The cloth stayed behind while the man disappeared.
"He should learn how to take the cloth with him," the white-haired man said out loud. He picked Gon up, taking him over to a table. The man had wanted to try a new power he recently got, seeing if it will be helpful for his plans. All he had to do was put both hands on Gon's skin and think of an age. When he did, light radiated from the boy. The light temporarily blinded him and when it went away, he heard crying. The man looked down at Gon, who was now a baby.
