The dreaded arrival

Cara~

I am not happy! I was awoken at the crack of bloody dawn with my sister screaming at me to wake up, then stuffed in a corset and also had my hair done as well as my makeup, shoved into my ugliest dress- or as my Mother calls it, my best dress- for the Royals to arrive two hours late!

Unbelievable! You'd think for a Royal Family they would at least be punctual, but nooo.

"Better late than never" my Mother Elaura says with a chuckle,

"Better to be dead than alive in this situation" I whisper to my sister, we both giggle as she slaps my arm with a shocked look on her face.

"Shush you! Before Mother and Father send you to the dungeons." Alice says with a grin,

"Ooh the dungeons! I'm so scared" I say sarcastically, expecting another slap that thankfully, didn't arrive.

"Girls we want you to be on your best behaviour today to impress the Royals" my Father explicitly turns to look at me with a raised eye brow and a serious face.

"Yes yes, anything to attain our status" I roll my eyes as the words come tumbling out of my mouth, but just as my father was about to- dare I say- compliment me...

The Royals turned up.

They're gorgeous carriage pulled up by our front steps and in no time at all, the doors on each side were all flung open at once.

I hadn't seen the Royals in about three years, but I wouldn't complain. If anything three years wasn't long enough!

Mr and Mrs Royal were delightful, so kind and considerate, both also very good at keeping secrets. I'd skipped out on the last three of these meetings, thanks to them, but sadly didn't have time to escape this one.

The Royals children on the other hand, were frightfully horrid to me. Not to my darling sister who has befriended them all, well apart from Parker he seemed to be the 'tough egg to crack' as Alice says, but he's nicer to her than me.

Parker and I have always hated each other. It seems to be something that will always be impossible to fix. He is so snappy and horrible and all he does is complain. I don't think I've ever met someone quite like the moany git.

"Hello Cara" Parker says with a soft voice, which is quite unusual but I decided not to think anything of it.
"You're looking-

I cut him off before he could say anything that would make me want to punch him, even more than I already do.
"Gorgeous, I know. Wish I could say the same for you though, navy really isn't your colour."

But the thing is, navy really is his colour. His gorgeous platinum blonde hair jelled back to be kept in place, his extraordinary grey eyes had a hint of blue in them that I'd never noticed before, and his jawline...so defined. I was mesmerised but I would never admit it. Seems the three years we were apart had done him good, I wonder if I'd changed or if he had at least noticed something different about me.

He rolled his eyes and replied "Actually I was going to say...horrid, it's funny how our opinions are so different. But you know as well as I do, navy is my colour."

It's as if he was reading my mind! Was I blushing? "I'm sorry last time I checked 'our opinions are so different'- I said mimicking his voice- and I don't think you want my opinion right now, it'll blow your confidence." I patted his arm to show how truly sarcastic my sympathy was, he just looked at me and smiled but I should have known what would be coming next

"Oh shut up." He said with a laugh of pure evil! I knew that he was planning something I just had to be ready when he unleashed what he knew publicly. And trust me when I say everything, everything I have withheld from my parents will be used against me in a matter of minutes to continue our annual fight, it's our thing.
