One year later

Damian 6 years

New York Institute

Damian and alac train hand-to-hand combat both are watched by maryse (mother of alac and izzy) and magnus.

Maryse: Damian is making very good progress, and not just in combat. He has become more open about his feelings. The therapy sessions have helped a lot so far

Magnus: he still has trust issues but you're right he hasn't retired anymore. He is also much happier.

Maryse: if I remember our first meeting. He was afraid of everyone and held your hand the whole time. But now this place has become like a second home for him.

Magnus: he enjoys it here.

Maryse: you can see how are his advances in magic.

Magnus: very good, I see that he will be stronger and more powerful than I thought. But he hasn't fully discovered his full ability yet.

Maryse: Can that become a problem?

Magnus: I hope not but I'll be careful.

Maryse: if you need help we are always there.

Magnus :I know, but it's time to go, I have another meeting with Katrin.

Maryse: Katrin hasn't heard from her for a long time.

Magnus: yes Katrin lives a normal life with the people. She is now a pediatrician

Maryse: practically when Damian is sick you have someone who can help.

Magnus: Yes, and since she's also a sorceress, she knows healing magic better than I do.

Maryse: and I was happy that she agreed to help for the institute in emergencies   oh so late the children need their bedtime.

Both go to the training room

Magnus: Damian it's time to go

Damien: really

Magnus: yes, but we can come back at the weekend" Damian picks him up and hugs him "it's really late and you should have been asleep for a long time.

Damian:okay bye alac and izzy. Goodbye Aunt Maryse.

Alac and izzy: bye

Maryse: see you next time

Magnus opens a portal and they are in the apartment.

Magnus: do you want dinner?

Damian: No, but can you read me a bedtime story.

Magnus: yes of course

Magnus takes Damian to bed and reads him a story until he falls asleep. After damian has fallen asleep he kisses his forehead and puts the book on the bedside table. Then he gets up, turns off the light and goes outside.

Magnus goes to his bedroom and changes. As he lies down and almost falls asleep, he hears a scream, he immediately gets up and runs to Damian's room. When he gets there, he opens the door and sees Damian twisting it.

He is looking around
no intruder
Damian is having a nightmare

Magnus kneels in front of Damian's bed and shakes his shoulder slightly to wake him up.

It worked, Damian opens his tear filled eyes, looks at him and hugs him through sobs.

Magnus: I'm here it was just a nightmare

Damian: it was memories of the league

Magnus: I'm with you  they won't come near you again, I promise you. I will always protect you. I will always be with you.
