Mike Wheeler had always loved theatre. So have his friends. Jane and Will, surprisingly, enjoyed being on the stage. Max and Dustin were apart of set design and advertising, Lucas was apart of lights and mics, and Mike was with a few other people who were stage runners and did mic checks.

"Are you sure you're ready?" Mike asked Will, who was excitedly staring ahead. Will turned around and smiled.

"Of course! Sure, being a female as my first big role wouldn't really be preferable," Byers shrugged, "but at least it's something everyone knows!"

"Yeah, good-"

"Get on the stage! We're starting in less than a minute!" The director called. Mike watched his best friend and cousin run onto the stage in excitement.

The audience silenced when the curtains slightly opened for their director to speak to them. "I would like to thank you all for supporting the Hawkins Theatre Program, or HTP."

"Please silence all electronic devices and no food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium. Our actors would appreciate if you'd refrain from talking during the performance. We're selling baked goods in the gymnasium during the intermission and after the final act. Please enjoy!"

The young adult quickly ran off the stage. Before Mike could bid his best friend good luck again, he was gone. It was pitch black on the stage, the only light spilling in from under the cracks of the doors.

"Divorced," Jane's voice silenced the theatre. A bright yellow spotlight flashed above her a few times then finally stayed on.

"Beheaded," another female voice, one he didn't recognize, echoed throughout the room. A green light flashed above the short girl.

"Died."

Mike looked over at Lucas, who was making sure everything was perfect. Another light, this one a grey spotlight, flashed over a boy.

"Divorced."

Mike was anticipating his boyfriends line. "Beheaded," Mike even got goosebumps at the somber voice.

"Survived."

It was now after halftime and Mike was waiting impatiently. This was gonna be Will's moment to shine! He couldn't be more proud of him. Currently, Will was doing his practiced lines before he had to sing his song. Mike noticed that Lucas, Dustin, and Max were all standing next to him, similar to how they were rooting for Jane earlier in that evening.

Hot pink strobe lights illuminated above his boyfriend. Their friends clapped and cheered quietly, "Look at him! He's having so much fun!" Dustin gave the rest of them a smile.

"I think we can all agree that I'm the ten amongst these threes."

Wills costume was really flashy. Wheeler nearly went blind from looking at him so much. As Will was talking and walking on stage, everyone could tell with every step that he was gaining more confidence.

Some of the song went by quickly. When Mike looked back on stage, he saw the other queens circling around Will. This was it, this was the big finale.

"He says we have a...connection..."

When the music became more intense, Mike grew more proud. They had always been the typical friendship duo. Wheeler was always the one who was more social and outgoing, while Byers was the one who was more quiet. Tonight changed that though.

This wasn't the Will he knew. This was the Will who seemed more confident, happy, and outgoing. Either way Mike would be in love with him, but he was happy that Will was coming out of his shell.

He couldn't be more proud.

"So please, give thanks to our crew as well!"

The 3 boys, 1 girl of the remaining party, and about a dozen of kids ran out from behind the velvet curtains. The crew held hands and bowed, huge smiles on their faces. Their celebratory music started blasting from the speakers, causing everyone to explode in happiness. Will jumped into Mikes arms, giving him a tight hug. "I'm so proud of you."

Mike smiled, "I'm proud of you too."
