Introduction

Target's Pov

" Impossible "

Crashing blindly through the thick overgrown forest, my ragged breathing rasps loudly in my ear.

" This can't be happening "

Panic claws at my chest, seizing my heart and crushing it in the palm of it's hand

" Heh... Heh heh! This just... It isn't possible! "

A new line of sweat drips down my already drenched face, stinging the cuts and scratches. I grit my teeth in pain as I rip the needles out of my shoulder.

" T... That's right! This isn't happening! I mean I'm a level 4 for gods sake! "

Clutching my shoulder to stop the bleeding, I quicken my pace sensing my hunter gaining easily

" I've killed so many other level 4's that were stronger than me before! "

Suddenly the adrenaline rush of panic subsides, replaced by that of desperate hope as I caught a glimpse of a light

" There! I can get away! I can... I can get away from that... "

I sped up ignoring the almost overbearing burning sensation throughout my whole body, a huge smile breaking across my face. I run into the light

" BAKEMONO! "

Stumbling out into the clearing, I look up, gulping down as much air as I possibly can. My heart immediately plummets and dread creeps into my stomach.

A beautiful sparkling lake of almost fairy tale like Crystal clear water lay infront of me, the blood red moon reflecting eerily in the middle, seemingly tainting the pure and sacred waters.

In a different time even a person like me would have taken the time to admire such a sight but now...

It had practically signed my own death warrant

" I wish I had found this place earlier "

I smiled sadly, then clutched my shoulder again in pain as my heart beat slowed and the adrenaline died down. The wounds on my face and muscles burn as I hobble to the lake

" Magnificent "

I look down into the lake examining myself. Sweat drenched, breathing still deep, cuts and scratches marring my face, hair messed up, looking totally exhausted, bloodshot eyes

" What if I hadn't taken this path? "

Suddenly intense pain tears through my gut. I look down horrified at the knives protruding out from my stomach, crying out in agony I sink to my knees. My vision blurs as a person walks up behind me

" Zan nen da ne... Finally realizing it now that it wouldn't have come to this if u hadn't taken the wrong path. "

My eyes widen, sweat drips down again, fear like never before slowly creeping it's way into me as I heard the deadly tone and felt the terrifying presence of the person. Bile threatens to rise from my throat as I looked up fearfully, drawn to the person's eyes

I look into the person's eyes

Fear crashes down on me in waves

My whole body trembles

Before I could throw up, the person splits my throat with a flick of his/her wrist. Blood gushes out seeping into the lake and tainting it. The last thing I see as my life drains out of me and I fall into the steadying growing red lake, is
