Peace is Just Nonexistent

About an hour had passed and we found nothing. No clues about her mom's death that could've led anyone to believe it was a murder. Well at least I didn't find anything. Everytime I asked Percy if he had found something he panicked for a second and said "Nope, nothing".

I disappointedly swallowed a lungful of air and rubbed my temples. I glanced at Percy and he was deep in his research which was surprising to say the least. He could never stay focused and yet here he was, fully focused.

He didn't seem to notice me, so I got up as quietly as I could and walked over to where he was sitting. I looked over his shoulder and found a paper filled with writing. Some of it was misspelled but I could make out most of it.

I tapped his shoulder and startled him. He jumped and muttered a curse. He turned to face me and chuckled.

"What did you find?" I asked, trying to look at his computer screen. He blocked it with his body and let out a nervous laugh. "Nothing important Wise Girl" He said with a small smile. I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Percy let me see." I saw him waver and I gave him a cold stare. He let out a large breath and turned around. "A bit before her death, Thalia's mom supposedly left Jason somewhere all alone. Some people say a woman took him and he wasn't found after." Percy said quietly. I looked at his screen and the paper.

"Oh my gods Percy! This could be it! We could finally see what happened! We need to keep researching" I said excitedly as I tried walking back to my own laptop. I could barely take two steps before Percy grabbed my arm and turned me around.

"Woah woah, calm down Wise Girl. We've been at this for an hour. We both need a break. You need a break the most." He said rubbing my arms. My adrenaline had started running and I couldn't calm down.

"Me?! A break from what?!" I said a little too loudly. "From the stress Wise Girl. I know you, and I know that this entire situation is stressing you out and freaking you out." He said calmly. "Besides we haven't had an official date yet" He finished with his lopsided grin.

I, of course, gave in and allowed a break. He didn't tell me where we were going. He said it would be more fun that way. We were out of the train and at a place that seemed oddly familiar.

"Where are we?" I asked, curiously. Percy laced his fingers with mine and smiled at me. "You'll see Wise Girl" He replied with a small smirk. I sighed and continued walking. After a while we arrived at the special place and I instantly remembered where we were.

"Have you ever been here before Wise Girl?" Percy asked as I kept walking. He had started walking towards me and I turned around smiling. "This is the South Waterfront Park in-" "Hunters Point" Percy finished for me. "I used to come sometimes with Thalia and Luke." I said, smiling at the memory. "I can't believe I forgot about this place"

"My mom used to take me here when I was younger. Not a lot of times, but we mostly came here to look at the water. I always liked watching the small waves" Percy said, staring out at the water. I took his hand and walked us over to the railing.

The sun was setting and the light reflected over the tiny waves. I could feel my heart fluttering the entire time until the sunset was over. This was the moment where I realized that I want a life with Percy Jackson. With my Seaweed Brain. "I hope this never ends" I said, turning to Percy.

"Me too. And it won't end. We'll finish high school together, go to college together, and from there we'll see where life takes us. Because we'll go through it together". I stared at Percy and he was so perfect I was in shock he was real.

We had stayed there for a while longer before we had gone home. Percy had dropped me off at my house and I felt like it was all a dream. I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom there looking at a letter. She was beaming. She looked up and noticed me. Her face seemed to light up even more, if that was possible.

"Annabeth I have excellent news" She was smiling so wide I thought her face might break. "I signed you up for college. Early admissions. Your applications were extraordinary, thanks to me of course." She continued talking and realization slowly settled in.

"Annabeth you got into Yale! Early admissions for architecture. You could be in Yale next fall instead of high school!" She finished excitedly.

I felt like I couldn't speak or move and I knew I should've been excited. This was a huge opportunity for me and it was an Ivy League school. Yet I didn't care about that. The one thought on my mind was: What about Percy?
