I tried to tell you the name I chose
But you just brushed it away
"Your name is this! Not anything else!"
That's what you chose to say.

I tried to tell you I'm not a girl
But you decided to just ignored me
"You were born a girl, that means you're a girl!"
That's what you chose to say.

I tried to tell you it's not a phase
But you sent me to therapy
"You're wrong, and a sinner! No child of God!"
That's what they chose to say.

They hurt me and they broke me
Put the idea that I was wrong
But I kept my head held high
For my fallen brothers and sisters
I decided I had to stay strong.

But you guys can say whatever you want
So why can't I speak my mind?
You said I could be whatever I wanted.
I guess that excludes being a guy.

I chose to not speak
Kept my silence, stayed mute
Till the day that I died
So bury me in a suit.
