POV: Travis

Katie and I decided not to leave when school started. One bad thing about that though, I woke up pranked everyday. Katie was relentless. My really big sister, Miranda, told me about a couple that came to Camp Half Blood along time ago. The girl was apparently my sister. And the boy was Katie's brother. I knew it hurt Miranda to talk about them, so I didn't press her. Whenever Miranda did talk about the mysterious couple, she was always on the verge of tears by the end and she would immediately go find her husband. No one saw her for a while after one of those incidents.

~7 years later~

Katie and I are now 16. There's a camp dance coming up. I'm going by myself. Katie isn't. She is one of the most beautiful girls at camp. Everyone thinks so. She's popular and like by every guy here. Except me, because I am her best friend. I just wish I could get to go to at least one dance with her...

Katie is going to the dance with her newest boyfriend. They've been dating for quite some time now. Almost 3 months actually.

On the day of the dance, I went to check on Katie in her cabin. She wasn't there. So, I decided to go look for her. I didn't find Katie, but I did find her boyfriend, Jake, making out with some random girl against the Hermes cabin. I had to do something. So, naturally, I yelled at him.

"YO! Jake!" Jake turned to look at me. As soon as he saw who I was, a million emotion went across his face.

"Travis, you can't tell Katie. Please." Jake begged me. I just stood there in disgust.

"How could you do this to her?" I demanded. "She did nothing to deserve this! You cheated on her!"

"Yeah, I know this looks bad-" I interrupt him.

"Bad doesn't even begin to describe this! You tell her or I will. Before the dance." I was fuming. I don't think I could wait for Jake to tell Katie.

Luckily, I was pretty sure I knew where Katie was hiding. She was robbing the camp store, which I really do not approve of, yet she does it anyway.

I marched to the camp store, earning myself some confused looks from campers who had never seen me this angry.

"Katie!" I yelled angrily.

There was a loud bonk and then Katie's head popped up from behind the counter, a grin spread across her face.

"Hello, Travis. How may I help you on this fine day?" She questioned.

"We need to talk," said a voice from behind me. I turned around and saw Jake.

Katie looked confused, "What's going on?"

Jake waved her over to him. She went and he guided her outside. I tried to eavesdrop, but I suck at it.

After a few minutes, I heard a slap and then I saw Katie running to her cabin. Following her, was Jake. And then me.

"Katie!" Jake yelled. All that earned him was a cabin door slammed in his face.

Instead of going to the front door, I went to the head counselor's room window and gently knocked on it before sliding it open, climbing inside and onto Katie's bed, then softly closing it again.

I slid onto the bed next to Katie. I didn't say anything; I just held her in my arms and let her cry.

"I thought he was different, Trav..." Katie finally said.

"I know..." I couldn't say anything else, unless I wanted to start bawling like a baby.

"He was just like everyone else..." Katie cried.

I didn't do anything but softly stroke her hair and gently kiss the top of her head.

I was kind of hoping Katie would fall asleep, but she didn't. For the longest time, she just sat and played with the buttons on my shirt. She gently twisted them and stroked them as I held her.

After about an hour of this, she spoke again, "Why doesn't anyone actually like me, Travis? They see me and see popularity..."

"Kates... They don't see the you that I see. I see a beautiful, smart, brave, amazing, funny, passionate girl. And if no one else sees that in you, then they are blind." I meant every word I said. I think I am in love with Katie Gardner, Daughter of Hermès.

Katie smiled gently then spoke, "Then take me to the dance instead. Don't let any more guys hurt me. Be mine, Travis."

"Katie... Are you asking me... to be your boyfriend...?" I nervously questioned.

Katie nodded, sure of what she wanted, "Yes."

"Then yes, I will be your boyfriend."

"Travis?" Katie questioned.

"Hmm?"

"I think I love you."
