Steve's POV
Ever since I got back from the museum, I've just been sitting in Bucky's room staring at the ceiling, lost in my thoughts. I couldn't get the image of that mystery boy out of my head. It's like it was engraved into my memory. The way his smile made my heart pick up its pace, how energetic he seemed to be, it's like he could keep me on my toes and I'd always have to keep up with him, and those beautiful brown eyes. They were probably the most amazing set of irises I've ever seen.
I sighed loudly and decided that it was time to actually do something instead of just lay here. I hopped off the bed and sat in the chair in front of the desk where my sketchbook was. I turned to a fresh page, pencil gripped gently by my thumb and pointer finger, the body resting against my middle finger as I pressed the lead to the paper and started to sketch.
The lines flowed smoothly, and as always I was lost in my own art. I didn't notice it at first until I was finished, but as I stared at my finished product, it all made sense. The facial structure was familiar, and I remember drawing those same set of eyes. This time, everything came together; I drew in the eyes, added the basic features of the human faces such as the hair, nose, eyes and mouth, but it wasn't just random features because it came from someone I already knew.
This wasn't Bucky's face, it was the face of that boy I met just a few hours ago. I remember his facial structure down to perfection, and needless to say I was honestly really shocked. Well, not as shocked as I should be. The few pages I have of a random face and random eyes explain why I was never able to finish those drawings, and they just remained as sketches. I never got to meet this guy, and now that I have I was finally able to finish. I had a huge smile plastered on my face as I just sat there, admiring my work. I think I was convinced, this boy is my soulmate.
"What are you smilin' so big for?" I heard Bucky's voice resonate somewhere in the room. I snap my head up abruptly, turning my head and noticing that he stood in the doorway with his arms crossed and his body against the doorframe.
"Oh, uh, nothing!" I said quickly.
"We've been friends for years, Stevie, I know when you're lyin'." I blush slightly, scratching the back of my head. He chuckles to himself and says, "so, what's got you all giddy?"
"Well," I started and then trailed off, looking back at my drawing. I sighed softly, my smile not disappearing from my face anytime soon. "I think I met my soulmate."
"Hey man, that's awesome! What's his name?"
"I actually, uhm, don't know. He didn't tell me his name, said I'll find out eventually."
"Well that's weird." Bucky said with a slight raise of his eyebrow. Truthfully I was just as confused as he was looking right now, but I thought nothing of it. Besides, eventually shouldn't be that long of a wait, right? "You meet some random dude at a museum, and he doesn't even tell you his name."
"It's no big deal, Buck." He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something else, prompting me to raise an eyebrow when he didn't and closed it shortly after. He shook his head and pushed off the doorframe, standing tall and straight.
"Do you wanna go down to the diner?" He suddenly asks.
"Which one?"
"Ya know, our favorite. Peter Luger Steak House."
