Chapter 3: Surprise Test

“Goooo-d Morninggg-g, Mam”, All the children sang.
“Ok- boys and girls, Sit down”, The teacher said, expecting another song of Okayy-y Mam.
Mac had got a seat behind Zak. Forgetting what happened yesterday, Mac silently whispered in Zak’s ear, “Hey!, How you doing?”. Zak, as usual no response from him.
“Ok, children, today you all are going to face a surprise History test!”, the teacher announced, giving a scary smile to the students.

All the students started whispering in a rushing manner. Everyone was shocked but, unnoticed by anyone, Zak was smiling as if he knew about the surprise test. Mac, after seeing him, asked. “You knew it?”. “No, did-not know tha-t”. Zak gave an unexpected reply. “Glad to hear your words!”. Mac said in a startled manner.
“Ok students, no more gossiping. And be ready for your paper”. The teacher said.
“Ok mam”. Zak gave the reply, everyone didn’t believe hearing him.

The teacher distributed the question papers. None looked confident, everyone was scratching head, biting nails and pencils. Unlike others, Zak looked confident and composed. After everyone submitted the papers, the teacher sorted the papers roll-wise and placed in the class cupboard. Everyone rushed to the canteen. Mac brought some cookies and came back to his class to eat. Interestingly Zak was was also there. Mac inquired him,
“Hey buddy!, You will not have any food?, Want some cookies?”.
“N-O”, Zak replied.

Mac stepped back slowly. All he saw was a red beam of light coming from Zak’s eyes. Suddenly, he closed his eyes and reopened, the beam of light had disappeared. Mac was so much petrified that he ran back to canteen. Meanwhile in the classroom, Zak had an evil grin on his face. Mac sat on a table in the canteen. He thought, “Zak is so mysterious!”.
“Ya”. Came a reply behind him in the voice of Zak.
“Zak-y is that you?”. Mac asked.
No-one was there. After finishing all the classes, Mac immediately followed Zak. He silently walked into the storage room near the old toilet, Mac followed him there too. There Zak turned around to ensure that no-one was following him. Mac was conscious of that, he immediately hid behind an old cupboard. Then Zak took out a mini chest covered with rubies. There he pressed a red button. Within seconds, He disappeared. Mac yelled as loud as he can, “Aaaa-…..”. Then he rushed to the principal’s desk to inform what he had just seen.
