Chapter 7 part 4 - The Action Begins
Hardison
"Psst!" I didn't even have to turn around to realise that James was behind me.
"Quiet!" I told him. We were standing in the hallways just outside the the grand hall entrance, "I'm trying to time when the guards-" Crap! I'm talking the guy who probably hired them.
"Yeah... The guards?" He smirked. "I'll help you."
"Why would you do that?" I defensively spat out at him. He's interfering with my plans.
"Because I found out about your friend, Lola is it? And I'm not about to let her get dragged into this."
"Oh, you know about, Lola... Great." Somehow I didn't like the sound of him finding out who she was, meeting with her... I just didn't like it.
"So what are you doing here?" He looked around the corner.
"Why are you letting me be here?" I asked back, pressing my body against the hard wall. He spun me around and for a minute I thought he might throw a punch at me but all he did was look into my eyes and say, "I know exactly what you want, ok?" He stepped closer. I have to admit I don't have claustrophobia in air vents but with people, maybe. "Just because I'm his son and all, doesn't mean I support what he's doing."
"So Alexander and Matthew support him and you and Clark don't?" This was getting to be so confusing. Is he on our side or not?
"Make that just Alex."
"Wait, Matthew's innocent?" I had to tell Lola! I felt so embarrassed.
"We've looked for years to find help but I hadn't realised Clark had actually found some." He smiled at me.
"I don't know if you should exactly count us as help, you know we've come here to-"
"-kill my dad, I know." He finished for me.
"And you're ok with that?" I couldn't help but flashback to my parents, and how I lost them...
"Yes, after what he's done, of course I am." I remembered the crimes Mr Williams committed, crimes which were nothing like mine. Right?
"Are you ready?" I couldn't help but forget about claustrophobia and stepped closer focussing on his soft, chestnut eyes. Soon time was up and we heard footsteps approaching and I whispered, "Let's do this."
Lola
I couldn't get the idea into my head, that for once, I had fallen for the right guy rather than just a plain, old, no good villain. The feeling felt good, and I could sense the tingling lingering down my spine, waltzing with the joyous thought.
"So if I said the greater good plan," this was a little test because as much as I wanted to trust him, I couldn't for the safety of the team.
"Come on, Lola. It's a stupid, evil, delirious plan that my fucking father came up with and is somehow managing to fucking accomplish. Shit!" Okay, so maybe that wasn't the greatest question, Matt's face had turned the shade of my burgundy lips.
"Hardison. What did they do to her!" I could now feel my lip colour washing away, spreading all over my face, "She could have died! She could ... No she couldn't... die. This is Hardison. But... Hardison could be dead right now." It was the only answer, there was no escape or help from that dismal prison.
Well, there was one escape route, but it comes with sacrifice and that's death. The tingling which had been dancing up my spine turned into a chilly frozen emotion suffocating my body. I began to choke on the sudden urge to cry at my new realisation that Hardison was dead.
