" Bro, you said we'd get to hang out all weekend! You guys have been gone for months! Come on! " I huff angrily. " I only get to see you guys one every few months, twice if I'm lucky! You can't do this, Dean. YOU promised ME! You can't blow me off! It's my birthday! " I pace around my room, my heart pounding.

" I'm sorry, kid. We're not going to able to make it until later. Something's come up. " Dean apologizes. " We wish we could be there, we really do, but we can't. "

" Why can't it wait 'til later? " I ask, running a hand through my hair.

" Because " Dean sighs. " it's my job. I can't just stop the wendigo from killing people for a weekend. If I could, I would. This is important. We've got to kill it. "

I frown. " And I'm not? "

" No! Of course, you are, Y/N. You're very important, but this is literally life or death. People are dying because of it. " Dean tries to explain.

" You know what, fine. I don't care. I'll just hang out with Bobby. " I try to mask the hurt in my voice. I know what they're doing is good, I just wish I got to hang out with my brothers more. I miss them. " I've got to go. I'll talk to you next week. " I mutter, biting my lip so hard I taste a little blood.

" Y/N- " Dean says, trying to stop me.

" Sorry. Bobby's calling me. Later. " I hang up, totally lying about Bobby. He's not even here. I'm pretty sure he went to go get some food for dinner. I don't know though. Haven't really been paying attention this week. I was so excited for the boys to come home. I made up the spare bedroom, planned out what we were going to do, and even got them a little something.

All I wanted was for them to be home on my birthday. What did I get? Another disappointment.

It's not like this isn't normal. They're always postponing visits with me, but I guess I'd just really hoped that this time would be different. I hoped that they'd be able to be here when I turned sixteen since they'd missed a lot of my other birthdays.

At least I have Bobby. He's cool. I wouldn't be able to keep myself together if he wasn't here.

" Y/N! I need your help with the groceries! " Bobby yells up the stairs after I hear the front door open.

" Okay! " I yell back, pulling out my phone and earbuds. I plug them in as I walk downstairs, turning on Spotify. A random song on my playlist blasts through my head. I shove my phone into my pocket and jog out to the car to grab whatever groceries I can. I manage to get most of the bags left and carry them inside. I nod at Bobby, setting the bags next to him in the kitchen. " I'll get the rest. " I say, not waiting for a reply before turning around and leaving.

I shut the car door, cursing when I drop my phone. Great. Just what I need. A cracked screen. I roll my eyes, shoving my phone back into my pocket instead of putting the earbuds back in. I walk towards the door, frowning as I do. Today's been terrible. I woke up with a huge pimple in the middle of my face, my brothers told me they weren't going to make it to my birthday, and now my phone's cracked. Maybe I should just run away into the forest or something, learn to live off of berries and rabbits. Away from my brothers and technology.

" Thanks, kiddo. " Bobby smiles at me. " How are you doing? "

" The boys aren't going to be able to make it for my birthday. They don't know how long until they can get out here. They're chasing down a Wendigo. "

" I'm sorry. " Bobby says sympathetically.

I shrug. " It's fine. I don't care. They've got stuff to do. I was planning on binge-watching Teen Wolf anyway. At least now we don't have to go out in public and stuff. " I lie. I seem to be doing that a lot these days.
