Fast forward to 12 years later, Olive is now 19 years old and Owen is now 20 years old. They both graduated high school just about a year ago, meaning now it's time they go to college. They both applied to the same college but unfortunately Olive didn't make it in so she has to go to a college in New York while Owen goes to a college in Los Angeles.
When they heard this, it tore them. They didn't want to seperate, they were so close by now they never wanted to be even 10 miles away from each other. They hated that, so much. now they 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 to seperate unless they decide to just not go to college, but they both wanted this so bad that they just had to put up with being seperated from each other for a while.
Now, let's see what they're doing now, they're both getting ready to say their last goodbyes to each other for who knows how long.
"Oh my god this is going to be so hard, we've never been seperate for more than a week." Olive said with a slight pout. "I know, I know, but we'll face time every single day, okay?" Owen said as he looked down at Olive. Olive nodded with a slight smile as she pulled Owen into a tight hug, beginning to tear up as she was going to miss him, a lot, and I mean 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩.
Owen sighed as he wrapped his arms tightly around his best friend. "c'mon Olive, we promised we wouldn't cry." He said frowning. "I know, but it's just harder to leave then I thought it would've been." Olive said as she hugged her best friend tightly. Owen sighed and rested his chin on the top of Olives head.
They stayed like this, silently, for at least 5 minutes, both dreading this. They had never been seperated for as long as they were going to be and it was just now hitting them how hard this was going to be, both were going to be in different states, different time zones, who know's if they would be able to stay as close as they are right now, in this very moment.
Soon their parents came out telling them if they didn't leave now, they'd both be late, they didn't want to leave right now but they had no choice. Owen slowly pulled away from the hug and gently wiped the tears from Olive's cheeks with his thumbs and gave her a slight smile. "I'll see you later, weirdo." He said with a small laugh.
Olive sighed and let go of Owen. "I'm gonna miss you, pinky promise you'll call tonight?" She said holding out her pinky finger towards Owen. Owen nodded and linked their two pinkys together. "pinky promise." Owen said as he smiled at Olive. "alright, bye bye." Olive said frowning slightly as she waved to her best friend walking out the front door and heading towards her car.
Owen watched as Olive walked out of the front door, continuing to follow her with his eyes through the window watching as she opened her car door, got in, and shut the door. The car stayed there for a minute before it took off slowly, leaving the driveway.
Soon Owen left as well, blasting his and Olive's playlist that they listened to every time they were in the car together. That was the only way he could hold onto everything in the moment.
Olive was on her way to the airport, to get headed to New York, her eyes were filled with tears as she was known to be the more emotional one of the two.
Little did they know.. they would stop talking soon, for a long, long time. That was their biggest fear.. and it was going to be coming true.
