The Ones: Ashes to Ashes

Ch.5 Funerals

A week after Fianco's death has passed. Today is a sad day for Equestria. Today is Princess Celestia's funeral. The funeral is being held at the Conterlot Cemetery. Nearly everypony attended the funeral. Its a cloudy day. The sun was covered by the rain clouds. It was cool. The cemetery smelled of dirt. Everypony there were crying. They couldn't believe that she has died. The Ones were there. They were all dress in black. Two ponies are going to make a speech. The first one is Princess Luna. "My dear subjects," she began, "we all know why we're here. My sister, Princess Celestia has passed away. Green Blitz killed her, but it wasn't his fault. He was under the spell of Fianco. Fianco has already paid the price. I too never thought that I'll see the day my dear sister died. As we all know, she was a really good pony, even though she made decisions that she regretted. Princess Celestia cared about her kingdom. She cared about you all. We will all miss her. I promise to all of you that I'll take her role now of rising the sun. And I also promise that I'll watch over this kingdom for her. Thank you."

The crowd clapped. Now Green Blitz will make his speech. "My dear brothers and sisters," he began, "I am so sorry for what I have done. I should be locked in the Asylum. But Princess Luna showed me mercy. If there was anything that I would've done to stop myself from killing Princess Celestia, I would've. Now I ask for your forgiveness. I should be treated as a criminal, not as a hero. I should have been kicked out of The Ones, but I'm not. And I ask myself why am I not? And I believe that I know the answer. Because I was given a second chance to redeem myself and to learn how to make better decisions in the future. It was of my poor leadership that caused this. If only I was a better leader, this would've never happen. I lost control over myself and I killed one of the members of The Ones. I killed Lighting Runner. I'm also sorry for his death. I just hope everyone forgive. I am willing to take over Celestia's role in protecting her kingdom. If I do, I promise that I'll make Equestria a better place. Only if you all let me control Equestria. Thank you."

All except Starberry clapped at his speech. Soon came the burial. There everypony gave their final goodbyes to Princess Celestia. She will be miss. Everypony left soon after the burial. Luna was the last one to leave. She stayed their for at least five hours just standing looking at her sister's tombstone. "I'm so sorry my dear sister." she finally said. She left the cemetery.

Lighting Runner's funeral was held the next day. This time, however, only The Ones, Princess Luna and a few civilians were there. Scout Smiles is ready to make a speech. "My fellow members and civilians," she began, "we are gathered here tonight for the funeral of Lighting Runner. Lighting was always a good pony. He cared about others and would sometimes put his life in peril just to save ours. Even though he made decisions that he regrets, Lighting always found a way to get out of it. He might be gone, but he'll always be in our hearts. 'Anypony could be a hero. They just have to find the courage to stand up and fight for what it's right'-Lighting Runner."

Soon after her speech came the burial. Every member of The Ones said their goodbyes to a great soldier. Everypony soon left. The only ponies there are Starberry, Princess Luna and Green Blitz. "I'm sorry about Lighting Runner, my daughter." said Princess Luna.

"I can't stand it." said Starberry. "I can't bear to see him dead. I want him again, mother. I want my love to be at my side."

Starberry let out a tear. "I know how you feel, Star." said Luna. "I too miss my sister, Celestia, who is resting up in the heavens. I too want her here. But there's nothing we can do about it."

"I know, mother. I just wished I did something to save him. I...I." she started crying.

Luna hugged her and she let out a small tear. After a few moments, she stopped hugging her. Luna said her goodbye and left. Starberry stood at Lighting's grave. Green Blitz went up to her. "I'm sorry, Starberry." he said. "I lost control over myself."

"I should've killed you." she said. "But, thank Luna that I'm merciful."

"I know. I deserve death for what I have done. But they gave me another chance. If the civilian of Equestria let me, I'll rule over this land. And I promise that I'll make things better. You can rule at my side."

"I don't want to be part of your government. I'll be alone like I was at the beginning."

"You can't be serious."

"But I am."

"The members of The Ones will also be part of this."

"Then they're damn fools. But I'll tell you what, I'll be with the team for now."

"Very well."

Starberry spread her wings and left. Green Blitz stood there for a moment. Then he too left.
