《Chapter 12: Dealing with the Truth》

《SAN P.O.V》

For once in my life, I had nothing to say.
I felt my stomach twist and turn in ways I never felt before, sending an unbearable wave of nausea through my body. All I could do was sink in my chair, a look of disbelief plastered on my face. "He-... I-... You." I stuttered, trying to work out the words I wanted to say.

Jongho is my brother....

My brother?!

There was no way this could be. There must have been a mistake. Right? Though... I guess the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. The glowing red eyes, the short temper. We were actually pretty similar. Except, there was one thing I couldn't figure out.

Narrowing my brows, I sat up and met my gaze with Seonghwa's. "If he's my brother, then why is he with the angels?"
I was met with silence, figured. Seonghwa hesitated so answer, but took a deep breath and spoke. "Because at the time, even if your mother put you both in my care, I had no say in where he was taken or what was done. So after much discussion, they had Hongjoong lock his memories away and took him on as one of their own. Raising him to be an angel, suppressing any demonic nature he had."

"Can they even do that?" I asked. "I mean, he's literally the spawn of Satan. An even more direct spawn then myself. He should have been raised as such. He even has every right to be king instead of me. So like, why?"

"I'm afraid that's just how it is... You were to young to pass judgment and I wasn't anything more then a fill in..." Seonghwa's expression saddened, tears filling his eyes as he bit his lip.

"Seonghwa?" I asked, giving him with a look of concern. He shook his head, wiping his tears before they fell "Nothing... I just-... I can't help but feel responsible for all this... He was supposed to be raised by me. I should have spoke up at the time. Put my foot down and just raise him along side you." Another pause followed by a long sigh. "But it's all said and done now. I can't change the past,  I'll just do what I can to get things under control now and make things right. He's after you and Wooyoung, so you need to prioritize keeping him and yourself safe... okay?"

I could only nod, fighting back the urge to hurry to him and suffocate him in an embrace. "I will..." I went to grab the orb, but stopped myself before I did to say one last thing before hanging up.
"And Hwa..." I started. He responded with a hum, to let me continue on. "None of this is your fault. You did your best." A small gasp came from his lips as I continued on. "And ah-...Thank you. For being there for me all these years... I couldn't have asked for a better dad."
His lip quivered slightly as tears began to fall down his face. "M-My king..." I scrunched my face up in disgust as he began to speak. "Stop! Stop it right there! Don't go all mushy on me!"

After a bit we finally hung up on each other, leaving me alone with my thoughts. With a loud sigh, I cuffed the orb in my hands before letting my head fall onto the table. It seemed that the more answers I got, the more questions I had. There was just no end to them!

Just then, a loud thud came from the direction of my room. I was instantly brought to my feet, ready to run over to see what happened. That is, until I saw Wooyoung laying face down on the floor. He was grumbling to him self for a bit before sitting up, rubbing a hand against his forehead. "Ow, ow, ow..." He mumbled.

"Wooyoung! Are you okay?" I asked, hurrying to his side. He replied with a small laugh, giving me a thumbs up. "I'm okay, I'm okay..." And just like that, almost instantly, he went completely serious. He turned his body towards me, taking my hands in his own. "But... Are you okay?"
I was confused for a moment, narrowing my brows towards the man in front of me. "What do you?-... Wait, you heard all that?..." Wooyoung answered with a guilty nod. "The whole thing..."
