Paige didn't have a second to register what happened. It all happened in a blur. The stranger screamed as the pressurized carbon dioxide blasted his eyes and the guy who barged in brought the fire extinguisher up and slammed it into the stranger's forehead. He was unconcious before his face hit the floor. The fumes started to clear and she could see her savior more clearly.

Not much taller than her, a skinny-but lean- man with broad shoulders. She guessed him to be around thirty five.

"Paige, snap out of it!" Something about him made her trust him. She found herself captivated by his voice and his deep set brown eyes. She wanted to move, to get out of there, to go with this guy who for some reason, she felt she could trust, but she couldn't. Her legs wouldn't lift her up. Brown Eyes - she decided to call him that- grabbed the gun off the floor and stached it away in his brown leather jacket. Then he bent down and helped her to her feet.

"Come on, we don't have much time before he wakes up."

She let him half walk her, half drag her out of the bathroom, down the hall and out into the school parking lot. There was only one car there. A grey 1984 BMW E30 with black tinted windows. Brown Eyes started heading for it right away. He propped her up against the car while he fidgeted in his pocket for the keys.

“Shouldn't we call the police? What if that guy wakes up?”

“No use. The police won't be able to contain him.”

“But..” she started but he had already unlocked the door and ushered her into the car.

   “Where are you taking me?”

“Somewhere safe” he said as he started the engine and pulled out of the parking lot.
