I was startled out of my thoughts by the once warm water, which was now quite cold. I reached over and turned the shower off. I wrapped a towel around myself, dried then got dressed in my pyjamas. I walked into the bedroom and saw Luca whimpering. I sat on the bed and pulled him towards me. I lay down and pulled him into my chest and just brushed his hair while he calmed down.

Luca opened his eyes and sat up. I saw tears shining in his eyes and sat up, cradling him on my lap. “What's wrong baby?”, I whispered into his hair as I breathed in his scent, which always managed to comfort me.

“I..I had a bad dream. Y.yyou were walking and Ethan came up behind you and hurted you.”, He whimpered and a few more tears leaked from his eyes.

“Shh baby. Ethan won't find us. I promise I'll be safe and I'll keep you safe too. I love you so much, I couldn't bare it if anything happened to you.”, Luca clutched my neck and slowly feel asleep after whispering that he loved me too.

I lay down and pulled the blanket over the both of us and soon fell asleep.

I woke up and felt around for Luca, when my hand didn't touch anything I sat bolt upright and looked around for him. I heaved a sigh of relief when I spotted him him sitting at the table with one of his comics and a pen he must've gotten from my bag.

I decided to get changed and take Luca around for a walk. I had so much missed time to catch up on. I never wanted to spend so much time away from him again. I got Luca dressed then grabbed my purse and left the room.

We got in the car and I tried to remember where I had seen things the night before. I parked the car in a side street and jumped out with Luca before locking up. I told Luca not to leave me and to hold my hand, he agreed and gripped my hand before dragging me out onto the main street.

There quite a lot of people milling around and I tugged Luca close to me. I spotted a diner on the corner of the street and headed towards it. Once we were seated I gave Luca one of the menus laid on the table and told him to pick something for breakfast.

A perky waitress came over and handed Luca some paper and crayons. I thanked her then gave our orders over. I played with Luca and taught him how to write his name. He was concentrating on writing the letters so perfectly that he didn't notice when the waitress placed his food in front of him.

I called his name and he looked up, his eyes widening in amazement as he looked at the pile of food in front of him. I smiled sadly and pushed the plate to him. He dug straight in and didn't look up from his plate until everything was gone, I even had to stop him from licking the plate.

He had never had so much food in one sitting before, Ethan never allowed him to eat mush and even then it was basic foods like mashed potatoes, beans and sausage. I ate my food a little slower and looked around the diner.

I looked towards the door as I heard a commotion and saw the most handsome man I had ever seen. I let out a quiet gasp but turned my gaze back to my son when his gaze swung in my direction. “So what do you want to do today? Do you want to look around town and see if we can find some clothes and toys for you, or do you want to go back to the room and watch T.V?”, I moved the plates out of the way while Luca continued to draw.

“Umm, can we walk around town please mummy?”, He asked looking up at me for a brief second before trying to write the word 'Mummy'. I smiled at him and said we could leave as soon as he finished. He agreed and proudly showed me his writing.

I gasped and held the paper high in the air. “This is the best writing I have ever seen.”, I looked back at my son to see him with a light blush across his cheeks. I grinned and put the paper in my bag. “Do you want to write anymore or shall we leave?”, He wanted to leave so I put some money on the table and made Luca put his jacket on.

That's what I need to get him first, a proper coat. I didn't want my baby to be cold. “Come on then.”, I put my coat on and put my purse across my chest. I picked up Lucas' hand and walked with him to the door. My gaze involuntarily slid to where the man was sitting. His hair was white almost white and his eyes were a deep blue. I didn't have more time to ogle him as my son started to drag me out the door.

We stepped out into the brightening day and walked aimlessly for a while, until I spotted a clothing shop. I picked Luca up and made my way into the shop. I walked through the isles and saw a rack with boys coats on. I set Luca down and told his to stay still while I looked for a coat for him.

I finally found one and looked down to ask him to try it on, but he was nowhere in sight. Panicking I looked around and walked around the shop calling his name. I finally found him talking to the man I'd seen at the diner.

I hurried over and picked Luca up. “What did I tell you about walking away from me?”, I asked trying to calm down.

“Sorry mummy, I was looking for anofer comic. But he wanted to talk to me.”, Luca pointed to the stranger who was looking at me curiously. I stood with Luca on my hip and faced the man.

“What did you need to talk to my son about?”, I asked as politely as I could.

The man gave me a smile and held hi hand out, “Isaac Joseph. I was just asking your son about comics. My nephew's birthday is coming up. I was just getting some inside information, you know?”, He replied like everything was okay.

“Well next time would you mind asking your nephew, because I don't appreciate strangers taking to my son.”, I said angrily before walking away. I told Luca to try on the coat then bought it when it looked fine and left.

I picked him up and held him facing me, his small legs wrapped around mu hips. “I've told you not to talk to strangers, why didn't you walk away?”, I asked curiously. He'd always walked away before.

“Because he looked nice, and he asked me about what comics I liked.”, He replied confused. I sighed and continued walking to the next shop.
