Save Me

Chapter Five

I accepted the offer for the cottage. The only problem was I needed a job. Fortunately Natasha had an answer for that too. She had been looking for someone to take over for her previous receptionist, seeing as Natasha owned her own business and had no other employees to take customers to houses, she needed a dependant receptionist to take care of everything for her.

I cried as I thanked her. "Mummy, why are you cwying?", Luca asked as he stood in my lap. He pulled my face up towards him and rubbed my face.

"Because mummies new friend here is making her happy.", I told Luca, he got a confused expression his face before shrugging and picking up a menu to play with. I stroked hi hair and looked back to Natasha.

"Don't worry about it, you're helping me out more.", Natasha laughed We spoke some more and Natasha informed me that I could move in the next day.

I thanked her again before swinging Luca onto my back and leaving the diner. "What do you fancy doing today baby?", I asked bumping up and down making Luca laugh.

"Can we watch a film?", He asked while playing with my hair. I decided to take him to the cinema. He'd never been to one so I was hoping he would like it.

We were sat in the dark theatre watching the trailers when the door opened and a bunch of rowdy teens came in. They sat right behind us and I moved closer to Luca. Thankfully the movie started and it seemed to distract the boys, I had glanced behind me and not seen any girls.

I soon forgot about them and watched the movie, which was really funny. Around half way though the movie Luca started to yawn and crawled onto my lap. I sat put my arm under his head and one over his legs and rocked slightly. He stopped taking naps when he turned three because Ethan would always wake him up,calling him lazy. He never knew what was going on but learned pretty quickly to stay awake till I put him to bed, no matter how tired he was. He'd been sleeping more around lunch time, making me think he small body was more tired than I had thought.

I looked down at my sleeping baby and gently caressed his still bruised cheek. I looked up at the screen and noticed I had missed the rest of the film while I was watching Luca. I got up slowly when the lights came back on and tucked my coat around his small body and tried to cover his face from the bright lights.

I walked out the theatre and into the cool afternoon. I looked around and spotted a Subway. I decided to buy myself some lunch and keep something for Luca when he woke up. I shut the door after I got in and stood in the one man line. I looked at the choices and decided to go with ha bacon and chicken melt. I got Luca the same then paid and left.

I was walking down the abandoned street to where my car was parked when I felt someone behind me. I walked a little quicker and held Luca tighter. Maybe they are just walking in the same direction? I thought trying to calm myself down. I managed to get the door unlocked and Luca safely inside before I was pushed into the car.

I felt a body press against me and tried to hold in a whimper. My hips were at and odd angle and my right one was held tightly against the protruding door handle. I stood still trying not to move as I felt a pair of thick hands run all over my waist.

I felt a tear slip from my eye as I was turned around, facing my attacker. He was much taller than my 5 ft 4". He was drunk, I could smell it on his breath. He was a large man, and held more power over me. His head lowered and I felt his chapped lips connect with my exposed neck.

I let out a sob and tried to push him away from me. I was very aware that my son was asleep in the car and didn't want him to awaken and see me in this position. I tried struggling more but only got a slap across the face. I cried out in pain as my lip split open and tried to get away. My knee caught his shin and I crawled away to the other side of the car.
