Screaming.
Screams that cut through the night echoed around them, eventually cutting off as Millie lurched towards the edge of the cliff, falling to her knees and looking down in despair.
She couldn't see the girl.
It was like she has vanished into thin air.
Suddenly Barclay and Chris pulled her to her feet and threw her in the direction of Charlie- away from the cliff edge.
Charlie caught her in his arms and gently rocked her back and forth while she shakily cried.
"Millie I think your really really sick, your having hallucinations it's not healthy." Barclay stepped forward.
The others agreed with him.
"Im not crazy.." Millie murmured.
They began walking back.
Eventually after a while they ended up back at the house.
In the living room the other guys and Bella were crowded round Bella's laptop watching paranormal activity, which to Millie looked like a shit movie, and occasionally screaming.
Bella was hiding behind Casey's arm and some of the guys were hiding behind each other.
Millie sighed.
Men.
"Millie you should go get some sleep, you've had a rough day." Chris said, a little too loud, resulting in everyone hearing.
"Why, what happened?" Bella stood up while Casey followed her.
"Millie thought she saw a girl in the woods and then thought she saw her jump off a cliff." Barclay replied as Charlie was ushering Millie upstairs to their bedroom.
"Well was it a real girl?" Casey asked.
"Of course not. She's probably sick or something, getting hallucinations." Chris replied.
Over by the sitting room the boys screamed at something happening in the movie.
Again, men.
Around 1am everyone else went to bed.
Bella and Casey sat in bed just having a late night conversation, like most nights.
"Casey."
"Yes?"
"Why did you run out the other day?"
Bella already knew the answer."It's not something I talk about a lot. It's like- I guess- I had a sister and she died a few years ago, and it was her birthday the other day. Its complicated, I don't even know anymore."
"Do you miss her?"
"more than anything in the world."
"She was lucky to have a big brother like you, you know that?" She asked him, kissing his cheek.
Casey wrapped his arms around her and sighed quietly in her ear.
"Well I'm lucky to have you, and that's all I need." He replied, letting her lie down properly and then move to lie next to her, but showed no sign of going to sleep.
A few moments of silence came.
Not an awkward one, a comfortable one.
Bella had shut her eyes at this point and was slowly drifting away from consciousness.
The last thing she caught before drifting to sleep was Casey whispering the words she'll never forget into her hair while kissing the top of her head.
I love you.
