To say the least, Jake was pleased with this outcome.
For months now he had been waiting for them to break up, but he obviously couldn't hurt both of his best friends.
To put it simply, he'd had a crush on Bella for a while.
The only way to hide his feelings were to be close to her, but as best friends.
Just best friends.
Sure, him and Casey were great mates, but he'd been fucked over by him 1 too many times not to take this opportunity that was practically handed to him on a silver platter.
"Well it's your choice. But I'm supporting you, he did go too far this time." Barclay replied, giving her a half hearted smile.
Jake patted her back and moved in to wrap his arm around her again.
"How long do we have left in this house?" Bella asked
"3 days." Jake replied to her
"Fuck, I can't share a room with him anymore, that would be a whole new level of awkward."
"You can come sleep in my room, I won't mind. You're my best friend" Jake smiled at her sympathetically.
-Couple hours later-
Bella tottered at the top of the stairs. She had told Barclay and Jake that she wanted to go to sleep to get them to leave so she could have some time to think to herself. Did she make the right choice? She thought she had. but after hours of thinking about it she wasn't sure anymore. She started feeling like it maybe was her fault, but then realised she was being ridiculous and then became even more angry at her ex.
Behind her, someones footsteps were creaking along the hallway.
Crap.
"You doing okay?" A far too familiar voice chimed. It was only Millie, she didn't need to punch anyone yet.
She turned to look at her friend who sat down on the top of the stairs next to her and shrugged her shoulders.
"Honestly? I don't know how I'm feeling right now." She replied.
"Casey isn't worth it, and I promise, after we get out of here you'll never have to see them again. isn't that right, Maddeline?" Millie replied.
"Millie who's Maddeline?" Bella asked skeptically.
"As in the girl sitting next to you?" Millie replied, looking at Bella like she was an idiot.
"There's no one next to me, Millie.." Bella trailed off, staring at the blank space on the step next to her.
"Yes there is, she's waving at you. don't be so rude Bella! I'm pretty sure pretending you can't see someone counts as bullying." Millie told her off, while bella continued to stare at her friend not understanding what was happening.
"She's the girl I saw in the woods, remember? Apparently she got lost, so I let her into our place. I couldn't just leave her out there." Millie continued.
In the midst of her ramblings, James and Chris stumbled up the stairs.
"James, Chris, can you see Maddeline?" She asked them. They stopped and stared at her.
"Who the fuck told you her name was Maddeline?" Chris asked.
"She told me, Maddeline is my friend" Millie answered back.
"Millie, Maddeline's dead." James replied.
"No she isn't she's my friend. Dead people can't talk James, duh." Millie rolled her eyes like he was an idiot.
"Maddeline was Casey's sister that died, Millie."
