In which Harry and Louis want to tell each other 'I love you' but both feel too scared to express their feelings.

-

Louis felt lonely. This was the first time in nearly six months that he had had the large flat that himself and Harry shared to himself ad he didn't realise how much he would miss his boyfriend when he wasn't around. Louis paced around the flat, desperately looking for something to busy his racing mind with.  His life had been great recently. The band was doing very well and he had the best boyfriend ever. Being around made Louis feel special and loved, almost drunk on the intense emotions he felt for the boy with the chestnut curls. The best part was that Harry was Louis' best friend. They had known each other before they had publicly met on the  X Factor and it made everything seem a little more precious - like it was worth fighting for.

The chirp of Louis' ringtone startled him out of his thoughts of his boyfriend. The screen flashed, revealing his lock screen and the notification he had just received. It was a text from Harry. Louis smiled, clicking on it to read it.

Hey love, gonna be home in 5. Missed you!

I missed you too, looking forward to seeing your curly head again :) x

Louis sighed happily, knowing that he was going to be able to wrap his arms around Harry in just a few short minutes. The two always spent so much time together, it was so bizarre when they weren't together. Louis paced for a little while longer, occupying himself with every little thing. He had been tasked with doing chores around the apartment all day whilst Harry was out - none of which that he had actually done.

Harry slid his key into the lock of the front door, opening it. Louis was stood right behind it, ready to throw his arms around Harry's neck. He was surprised to see that Harry had snowflakes in his curls and on his long, black coat. He looked out of the window around the curtain that he had shit to see a small blizzard outside. He laughed to himself before leaning in to kiss Harry, who cupped Louis' jaw with his cold hand.

'Bloody hell, stick your icy hands somewhere else!' Louis exclaimed into the kiss, giving Harry a mischievous glint in his green eyes.

The younger boy smiled wickedly before reaching his hands under the hem of Louis' jumper. Louis squealed, pushing Harry away. Crinkles appeared by Harry's eyes and his curls bobbed whilst he laughed. Harry took off his coat and made his way to the couch.

Louis knew that evening would be perfect as can be. After feeling lonely and sad all day, Harry somehow managed to light up a whole room with just by entering it. Louis had always seen this stunning yet rare trait as simply mesmerising. He just couldn't help but stop and stare. It was as if his boyfriend was surrounded by an aura of softly glowing gold. It was the comforting type of light, the type that makes one feel safe and comforting. Harry felt like a light to guide, a light to aid, light to hold on to when things got hard. To Louis, Harry was the metaphorical 'light at the end of the tunnel' personified and there was something so fucking vulnerable, so intimate about that.

Harry felt the same way about Louis, to an extent. For Harry, Louis was more like the sun. Harry had grown into himself a lot in the last year, going on a mission of self-discovery, lead by Louis' guidance and security. Without Louis' support, Harry knew that he wouldn't have made it. The trust that he had in Louis was like nothing else that he had ever felt, it was terrifying but made him feel fearless and powerful.

'Hey, Lou?' Harry asked, looking over to his boyfriend who looked like he had just been startled.

'Yeah?'
