Easy Company (New girl)

i was the only girl in the 101st airborne. my father, a past army commander of the airborne division, had pulled me out of school to follow the traditions of joining the military, just like my two older brothers. michael had joined the marines and is now headed for the pacific and my brother johnny had joining the navy.

i wasn't your typical girl. you know, the ones who liked to go shopping, wear dresses, be a house wife. no. i was more adventurous, hard headed, strong. my father has us training since we got into middle school. he didn't want no chumps in the family. my mom, laura, she was the most beautiful women in new jersey. with my dad being the handsomest. she was the most kindest, most thoughtful person in the world. she didn't want our father to push us to much. she wanted us to choose our future, that is until we started to get low on money after my father had lost his job and that's when we decided to all join the military.

my dad didn't like it that we were in different branches. we wouldn't be there to look out after each other and take care of each other like we did at home, but it was worth getting money for the family.

i had walked into camp toccoa. i looked around and saw many men just staring. it seems they had never seen a girl once in their life.

"ummm, can i help you?" one of the boys asked who came over from his friend group.

"yeah, where is cl. sinks office?" i asked looking around.

"over there in that tall building. that's the headquarters, and next to it is the battalion cp where they make all the battle decisions, and everything over here is our barracks" he said.

i found it funny that he was telling me where everything is, even though i asked just for the cl.'s office.

"thanks, umm, luz" i smiled as i looked at his name tag. he quickly smiled back and took out his hand.

"no problem,  l/n," he said looking down at my tag, "nice meeting you."

"same here" i said walking away to the headquarters. i couldn't make out what they were saying when i left, but i just shrugged it off.

after the meet with cl. sink, i was led to the barrack of easy company.

sink knew my father. they were friends throughout war. he was practically an uncle to me and my brothers. he came to help my dad train us.

"here you are" the gentlemen said.

"thanks" i said taking a deep breath before entering the barracks.

i stepped in and all eyes were on me. i felt very uneasy just standing there until i saw an empty bed on the far left corner. i walked over to it and set all my bags down. i looked up at the boys to see the guys i saw earlier.

"hey look who's here"

"i didn't know she was with us"

"since when women were allowed to join?"

"hey, chill guys. she's cool," luz said with the similar guys following behind him from earlier, "welcome to the company l/n. this is guarnere, toye, liebgott, martin, bull, and lipton"

he said point to all the individuals that were with him.

"hi! i'm y/n l/n, nice to meet you all" the guys awed at my australian accent.

i was born and raised in new jersey, but my mother and father were from austria before moving.

"so, how do you like it here so far y/n?" lipton said sitting on the bed across from mine.

"it's nice so far. hate having everyone stare at me though" i giggled.

"shouldn't be a problem for you though. i bet a lot of guys stare because you are hot" one of the other guys across the room said.

"cobb, chill. don't make her uncomfortable. come on, let's show you around" luz said.

guarnere and toy followed while everyone else stayed back. all three men pointed to different areas of the camp explaining all the rules, when showers and bathroom breakers were allowed etc. we passed the barracks of the other company. the point we stood at was dog company. they told me to be careful of the other companies and to not trust or talk to them.

i looked over to all the different men talking and joking. i turn my head and saw a group of men staring and making calls at me. i stood closer to toye as luz and bill were explaining the difference of these companies.

i looked over and saw three men who were smoking. captains they seemed to be. they were looking over at the group of men smiling like they were enjoying the whistling and sexy names they were giving me, but one didn't smile. he seemed annoyed.

he looked over at me as we made eye contact and seemed to be apologizing with his dark green eyes. i smiled slightly before i heard guarnere yell.

"hey l/n, lets goo!" bill yelled as i noticed they started walking away. i ran to them, luz quickly putting his arm around my shoulders as we walked away, not looking back though i could still feels his eyes bore into me.

it's been a couple weeks since camp had begun. i wanted to punch the daylight out of sobel for always being an ass to us, especially me because i am a woman, but when sink talked to him, he seemed to back off a bit.

today was the day of our gear training with the other companies. 

we had to wake up at the crack of dawn. of course, easy was the first company to get there. we all stood and sat around waiting for the other companies who seemed not to give a crap. by 0600, everyone else had join and the courses began.

the obstacle course was the one i hated the most. it was hard for me to get over the wall and sobel didn't want anyone to help me. 

easy and dog were up to run the course. when the whistle blew, we began. 

me and all of easy were ahead of dog. me, shifty, and christenson led the group. when it came to the wall i froze. i looked up knowing how high it was and how sort i was.

"come on y/n, you got this!"

"let's go y/n"

"move it!"

all of easy was passing me as i stood there. winters, nixion, and spiers stood afar and saw me standing there.

"what is she doing?" nix said.

"i don't know if she can go over the wall. she was never good at it and sobel wouldn't let anyone help her get over"

ron look back over at winter with hatred in his eyes before looking back worriedly.

i soon felt a tug to my arm and pull me towards the wall.

"i got you" toye said as he helped boost me up over the wall and on the other side, i saw other members on easy wait for me. now this was truly a team. we all had our fears, but to help each other when the other needs it, that's what it's all about.

all the finished easy members cheered as they watched the team work. we still lead the whole company to the finish.

we all fell on the ground of exhaustion. everyone came over to me and patted me on the back knowing i did it with the help of toye, who look burned out as well.

"hey, thanks joe" i said handing him water.

he drank the flask before replying.

"hey, you're in my company, you're a paratrooper like me. we're here for each other. now if sobel gives us any crap, i'll handle it" he winked.

i smiled and looked at the others who were listening and smiling as well.

this definitely started to feel like home.
