chapter 9: breaking the rules

It was midnight. Melody looked out her window. "I wonder how harmony is doing. What if she is hurt badly! Oh this was all my fault"said melody

-With harmony-

Harmony laid in her bed. Sea and wave watched over her. "Honey she isn't waking up!"said sea

"She will be fine......I hope"said wave

"But what could she be in danger off? I mean don't you find it fishy?"said sea

"Sweetie, for harmonies safety we have to keep her away from melody. I know we have to tell her the truth. But until we know that jazz is right, we can't risk it"said wave

Sea sighed. She looked at harmony. She remembered about the first time she held her. Sea swam to her and sat on one side of her bed. "Remember when we you first saw her"said sea

Wave smiled. Sea always tried to brighten up the moment. That is what he loved about her. "Yes. She was so adorable. And she still is. Her baby blue eyes were so shinny"said wave

"Now that I think about it. She was born with the gold in her hair. You think her mom had golden hair?"said sea

"I am not sure. But i do know that she wouldn't be okay with her husband giving away their daughter like that"said wave

-with melody-

Melody clenched her amulet. "Oh mom. Only if you were here. You could tell my dad that he is wrong about harmony. But I know you and my little sister are doing fine. I know you both are watching over me. Its not fair"

Melody broke into tears. Her sister and brothers were over hearing. "Oh melody. Only if you knew"said moon

"Guys we have to tell her. We can't lie to our sister"said Jacob

"Dad will beat us dead if we tell melody"said whirlpool

"So I can take a punch. We can't lie to her like that! This is hurting her more than we think. And as a good sister i am helping her find out harmony is our sister. So are you in or out?"said moon

The three guys sighed and nod. Moon knocked on melodies door. "Melody can we come in?"said moon

"Yes"said melody

Moon opened the door and walked in. So did her three brothers. "We heard what happened"said whirlpool

"Its my fault. She was scared and I didn't listen to her. Is it wrong to worry about a girl who you only knew for 3 days?"said melody

"Not if she is your sister"mumbled moon under her breath

"What?"said melody

"Nothing. But we will help you. Go and see her"said moon

"But dad will know"said melody

"Not if we cover up for you. We will stay in your room and I can Jose my magic to fool him. Go melody. We won't tell dad"said whirlpool

"Thanks! Your all the best!"said melody

She hugged her siblings. They all helped her sneak out. And when melody was out she ran into the sea and made her way to the mermaid castle

-with harmony-

Harmony woke up. She rubbed her head "what happened?"

Sea and wave woke up and hugged her. "Harmony, sweetie you have woken up!"said sea with joy

"What happened?"said harmony

"Remember you and melody were in the swamp part of the sea"said wave

Harmony then remembered "I have to get check on her!"

Wave held her back. "Sweetie we think its best if you stayed away from her. We don't know if jazz is lying to us or not. Until we know, you have to stay away"said sea

"But mom. She is my best friend. I feel really conetected to her. You can't take away my only close friend. Mom, dad please. I promise to stay in clear water bounds"said harmony

"No harmony. You can't see her"said wave

"Dad! She is my only close friend!"said harmony

"Harmony we are trying to protect you. We don't want you hurt"said sea

Harmony sighed and nodded "fine. I won't see her"

"Thanks for understanding sweetie. We will go cook dinner. We will send a guard to tell you when dinner is ready"said sea

Harmony nodded and smiled. Sea and waved smiled back and then swam out. When they closed the door harmony smiled soon changed to a growl "they can't keep me away from her. Ugh its that stupid siren. Why can't we just get along. We are the same. Sure sirens are harsh but still. We both have fins, beauty and.......okay forget it. She is my friend and they can't keep me away"said harmony

Then harmony heard a knock. "Come in"said harmony

Melody pop her head in. Harmony smiled. Melody swam in and closed the door. "I heard your parents"said melody

"I know. Are we still friends?"said harmony

"We always will be friends"said melody

"Thanks melody. How did your dad react?"said harmony

"Same way. But harsher"said melody

They sat on harmonies bed and started talking. "If our parents find out they will be mad"said harmony

"Yeah they will. But in life sometimes you have to break the rules"said melody
