                              Power.
It comes from many different sources.
If it was used wisely and carefully, one could influence the behaviour of others with or without resistance. However too much power could cause anarchy.
Some seek it, others are given it. But few..  can handle it.
                              ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
It is hard to determine what motivates someone to cause an imbalance to those who surround them. Whether it be personal or for the sake of others, only the individual would know. What I had done was wrong, and certainly not my place nor expectation to do so. But when someone, especially a Moroi, chooses to abuse their power, over not just anyone, but a Dhampir, well it’s the most disrespectful thing they could ever do.
My kind not only risked their lives for the Moroi but we give them up as well. We are bred to serve and protect them. They come first. Always.
After I’d left the picture in Aaron’s room, uncertainty crept into my mind. My intention was for Aaron to break it off with Mia, and for her to lose her power over Rose and Lissa so that she wouldn’t be a threat to them anymore. What actually happened was far worse.
Aaron dumped Mia, as I ‘d expected, however he’d started dating Lissa. Both Alberta and I were shocked, neither of us had seen it coming.
I had acted out of impulse, something that had taken me years to control, and I still hadn’t mastered it. This was a reminder of why I had to. And why Rose needed to learn to.
Mia was now more of a threat to Rose and Lissa then she’d ever been. And it was all my fault.
Alberta followed her everywhere in case she did something irrational. We bugged her phone, listened in on her conversations and hoped in the long term that nothing bad would happen.
Lissa was openly affectionate towards Aaron. They held hands, sat together at lunch and showed gag worthy amounts of adoration for one another. Meanwhile Mia watched with hate filled eyes and blotchy tear stained cheeks. She was unmoved by her friends condolences. But she wasn’t the only one who was furious at the Academy’s new golden couple. Christian Ozera showed great distaste in Vasilisa’s affections towards her new boyfriend. It was obvious he now had strong feelings for her and with Christian’s history of violence, now Aaron to, was in danger.
As Lissa’s popularity grew, more royals flocked to her. She seemed to win everyone over with ease, or it might’ve been the compulsion Christian accused her of using that night when I’d been listening in on their conversation in the attic. However, from what I could tell, her personality was what gained her respect.
Rose stuck by her side, remaining mostly quiet through Lissa’s show each lunchtime. She didn’t seem overjoyed by Lissa’s acceptance but at least people had stopped with the bloodwhore rumours somewhat.
During training she’d always seem deep in thought, and sometimes throughout running she’d wear a blank look on her face as if she wasn’t really seeing what was infront of her but was someplace else. That was when I knew she was seeing through Lissa’s eyes. It was fascinating yet unusual to watch.
