Witch Trials (chapter 7)

I stayed in my cell for hours not knowing what would come next. However, I felt like this happened before. Not long after my thinking, they called me out and told me that it was time.

I've never felt this much guilt at all, not since the bombing of Eden. I should feel courageous and brave because I was wrongly accused, but a part of me won't. It's like I want to be wrongly accused.

I stepped out of my cell and got cuffed by two guards who were ready to fire their guns once I do anything suspicious. They brought me into an open field and in front of me was a ginormous curtain, blocking my vision of what's behind it.

Suddenly, a large screen with a familiar face appeared in front of me, Nelson Holmes.

"Remember me? well it's me again Holmes, you might be wondering what in the world is this! well this is a part of the Witch Trials... Long ago, humans made this to test witches if they're good enough to live with them. Humans made the witches compete with each other! they made them do horrible stuff that trust me, you don't wanna hear."

"If you survive here, you're free to go! I'm warning you though... it won't be easy."

"In front of you is a watch with a digital technology that lets you pick your common advantage. For example, you chose doctor. It will automatically spawn you a medic kit that you can use to retain health, and an injection for a weapon, or for a buff. Remember, once you choose an advantage, you can never change it again. On normal Witch Trials, everyone fights  with each other, but this one's different. Everyone, all 49 witches fights you! You should be able to figure out the rest yourself. Don't worry...you won't die here, but you have to take down all 49 witches to win. Just say you surrender and it will be over. After you surrender, you will spend your whole life in jail forever! This is Holmes again going out! Oh and one more thing, this is just the beginning..."

The hologram wore off and my handcuffs were gone. I turned around and the guards behind me were gone too, I was left alone in the open field.

I took the watch and it opened like a hologram. Like Holmes said, there were a lot of advantages, but a lot of disadvantages too. Like the Soldier, I can have any gun that I like, but it only has one magazine of ammunition. The Engineer too, you can build anything offensive to defensive, but it takes 10-15 minutes just to generate one

I looked at every advantages until I finally found one that suits me, Potion maker. I know, funny right? it's almost the same as my job last time when there was still Eden...

Potion maker has a lot of advantages more than disadvantages. One advantage is that there a LOT of potions. Like the Engineer, it takes time to make a potion, but unlike the Engineer, I can make three potions at a time. One more disadvantage is that I have to look for the ingredients for certain types of potions, but swift and strength potions can be generated without ingredients. There are powerful potions like the Flying potion that can only be generated once. The last disadvantage of the Potion maker is that every time he drinks or throws a potion, the effect will wear off after 5 minutes, making it the most unfair disadvantage of all.

I mean it takes triple the effect time to find their ingredients, let alone generate them. Still I can store them after they generated, and use it only for a probable cause.

After all that, the curtain in front of me disappeared and behind it was a large door which looks more like a gate. It looks like it was double the size of the curtain. A voice then spoke "Begin."

The door swung open fast, almost knocking me back. A cloud of dust emerged blocking my sight of what's inside the door. As the dust cloud receded from view, what I saw made me sweat. 16-18 witches surrounded me with deadly weapons. The rest became rangers that will cast spells on me once I make a move.

I thought it was over until a guy with a scar on his left cheek approached me.

"I'm the leader here. I'm telling you this once, surrender now or we make you do it. Trust me, it will help you and me," said the guy with the scar.

"what do you mean it will help you and me?" I asked.

"Everyone here calls me Scarhead. You see this collars in our necks? They are trackers. All of us are just like you... if we make you surrender, they will free us. It will also help you because you don't have to do the rest of the trials."

I was frozen, not because of a spell, but because of my emotions. I did not know how to act, or what's best.

Should I believe a word of a stranger that I will be saving them if I surrendered?

Should I make myself the first priority to survive rather than others?

Should I?

Should I not?

"You're running out of time, surrender now or we will do it the hard way," said Scarhead

I relaxed, just realizing something... not something, Someone. "I would surrender right now if I got nothing else to care about, but I do."

"It's funny you know, love always makes us do wrong things," I said.

After that, I grabbed a potion out of my pockets.

"Drop that thing right now or we won't make you leave here without a scratch!" said Scarhead with a threatening voice.

"As you wish..." I said with a grin.

As the potion dropped, it created a smokescreen that blinded all of the witches in the area.

Scarhead became shocked, "Impossible, he wouldn't have time to get the ingredients! I want everyone to find him immediately...he can't win.

"b-b-but sir..."

"What is it Jonathan!" shouted Scarhead.

"he-he's behind y-you!"

Behind Scarhead was a menacing guy who's pointing the gun formally used by Scarhead to Scarhead's back. That guy...was me.

As I pointed the gun to Scarhead, I reached out to his ear and whispered something viciously.

"You're not the only one who used the dust for a strategy, Mage!"

"W-what are you talking about! I'm not a m-mage, I'm a witch!" Whisperes Scarhead nervously.

"Well...what's that mage ring doing in your finger? if I tell them a mage is leading them...oh I don't know what they will do to you..."

"Please no, I'll do anything please!" pleaded Scarhead softly.

"Surrender."
