*Commander Eccleston's POV*

"So, newbie, I'm guessing you have no idea as to what's going on around this place do you?" I asked the new techie, showing him around the complex.

"Uh... I actually do think I am aware of what's going on sir..." He replied. I could see the lie right through his eyes. The twitching hands, and the sweat on his forehead gave him away.

"Oh is that so, newbie?" I chuckled, staring straight into his nervous, cloudy grey eyes.

"Y... Yes sir." He stuttered, stiffly erected, hands stuck to his thighs. "And I have a name Commander Eccleston." He twitched.

"Hey. It's Sir to you, and only Sir." I ordered, staring him down.

"Sorry sir, but why do you assume that I do not know what's going on sir?" He sputtered. Laughter escaped my mouth.

"Son, you have no idea what's going on in this shit stack of a world." I spat. "Lemme guess. You've lived in the underground bunker your entire life, living with your family. Am I right?"

"How do you know of the bunker sir?" He asked, confusion dripping from his words. Once more, laughter arose.

"I know practically everything about this place." I grumbled. All the rich kids had the priveledge of living in the underground bunker. An enormous underground system of houses, recreational parks, and other places had been created after the deterioration of Earth. Not everyone was open and welcome to this luxury however. Only around 2,000 people are still alive and well on this planet. The rest are dead, withering, and decaying on the dead land.

"The Earth is dying. You have been protected in your little underground tunnel, avoiding the truth running around your little maze of stone, enjoying your petty life, lied to your whole life." I growled. "Pathetic..." I whispered to myself. The boy just returned the comment with a look of befuddlement. I rolled my eyes, and continued on.

"The rotten people who inhabited the planet before us were filthy pigs, causing the Earth to be no longer habitable. No one can survive living in the polluted crapper."

"What're you talking about? My mother always told me about the wonderful Earth and great people who lived in this place before..." He trailed off, the milky way spiraling in his grey eyes. The man seemed to be flying within the clouds, dreaming of lies spilled from his mother's mouth. I couldn't help but let out a scoff.

"Great people? Wonderful Earth? Hah! Wow, your parents must have fed you lies for breakfast." I shook my head in disgust. "The Earth is dead and contaminated. You take a step out there, and you've got a deadly infection. Just. Like. That." I snapped my fingers for effect. His eyes immediately clouded over, and he landed back on Earth.

"B- but... My parents sent me here, to study the Earth... The atmosphere... They were all lies?" He stumbled on his words, tripping on every one.

"The Earth is gone, boy. It's dead until we can get Noah Sharman back here, that goddamn space boy." I mumbled. I strode back over to my computer, waiting for the guy to message me back.

When is this guy going to contact me back?! I need him here. Or all of us on Earth are toast.

I heard a beep emanate from the large monitor above my desk. I rushed over, maneuvering my hand around the controls of the computer.

"Commander Eccleston,

I need specific information as to why I am so urgently needed back on Earth. And I'm afraid, that even if it is a great requirement to return home, I have no means of transportation to be able to get back. As far as I know... I'm stuck.

-Noah Sharman."

I sat there, eyeing the screen. Redness consumed me.

"God freakin' Damn it!" I slammed my hand down on the oak desk in front of me, sending the papers flying. There was no way we'd be getting Noah back anytime soon.
