Chapter 2

Mel was the first to make a move, she lunges forward and attempts to land a hit. Techno was fast to react and puts up his shield, successfully blocking the blow. "The new update is crazy, really changes pvp huh?" Mel asks, pulling her axe out of the shield. "Definitely, took me a while to get used to it all." He responded. "What about you, what got you all caught up in this mess?" Technoblade asked the girl as he started his counter attack, taking a swing at her right arm. Mel simply dodged the hit and returned the blow by swinging her own axe at his left arm. "Oh you know, being friends with George means I get caught up in his and his friend's issues a lot. Especially if it involves beating you in pvp." He laughed and blocked her hit, jumping back to create some distance. "Yea, you got that right." She smiles and then once again lunged forward at him. The two of them continued to exchange hits and words until Techno was laughing too hard to do anything. "Oh come on, it's not that funny Dave." Mel spoke, close to laughing herself. "Oh my- you really said that to Schlatt when you first met him- that's too funny- I can't breath!" Techno said between laughs, he was referring to the story that Mel had just told him about her meeting Schlatt for the first time. Before the two could continue their duel, another person joined the call. "Melony, Schlatt needs to talk to you now." It had been Quackity who joined. "So stop messing around with Techno and get back to Manburg." He finished. "Yea, yea, I'm on my way. Till next time Mr. Blade." Mel said. "Till next time Ms. Spirit." Techno replied before Mel joined the call with Schlatt, Quackity, Tubbo, Karl and Punz. "What's up with the other two people here and why can't I see their names?" Mel asked, being confused by what's going on. "Well Mel, we have two people here who are interested in joining Manburg. Me and Schlatt thought it would be a good idea if you were in the call to help...encourage them a bit more to join." Quackity said. "Oh, so you want me to intimidate them then?" She asked. "Exactly, see I knew you were smart." Schlatt said. Mel mumbled under her breath and then spoke up, "Alright, let's get this show on the road shall we?" Everyone agreed and the bargaining began. After what seemed like forever they finally reached an agreement. "Alright, so Karl will join as long as he can still marry Sapnap and is allowed to live on the land for free. As for Punz, he will join as long as he is paid in netherite scraps and is Mel's roommate." Tubbo said, going over what everyone boiled down to. "Quackity, Schlatt, what do you say?" He asked them. Mel had zoned out a while back and was only just starting to listen again, though it was too late for her to have a say in anything. "It's a deal-" "-Punz is going to be my roommate?!" Both her and Schlatt spoke at the same time. She sat there astonished as everyone but her cheered. Mel quickly left the call and started booking it to her temporary house, making sure to glance behind her every once in a while. As she looked back she saw Schlatt grin and snap his fingers, suddenly Fundy was chasing her. 'That sly bastard, he knew I would do this. Ugh.' Mel thought to herself as she turned to start running away from her house so that Manburg wouldn't learn of its whereabouts. Mel knew that Quackity had known she had been on the server before because he had gone online during the same times she was once so it was only a matter of time before they started to pick up on her lies of not having anything. 'This must have been a set up from the start. No wonder it was out of the blue and random. I'm such an idiot.' She thought as she kept leading Fundy far away from her house. While running she noticed how the surroundings became more familiar, 'Pogtopia, perfect!' She thought. Quickly hiding behind a tree she whispered to Techno, +Hey, got set up and need to get Fundy off my trail. Near Pogtopia, please help+ Mel quickly peeked her head out to see if Fundy was still looking for her, but she couldn't spot him. "Who did you just whisper to miss Spirit? I need to know." Suddenly Fundy was right in front of her and swung his sword into her left side. "Tell me!" Fundy yelled at her as she screamed out in agony. He started to push the sword in more as he waited for her response. Before Fundy could do anymore damage to the poor girl a pinkish blur tackles him to the ground. Mel immediately knew it was Technoblade coming to her aid, and he seemed pissed. Techno quickly killed Fundy and rushed to Mel's side. "Shit, this doesn't look good." He mumbled as he assessed her damage. She was silently crying as she looked up at him. "Hey it will be ok, I'll take you back to Pogtopia and we can fix you up there. I promise." Techno said as he wiped away her tears and picked her up carefully. He started to rush back towards Pogtopia, trying not to move her too much in order to avoid further damage. "We're almost there Melony, please hang on." He whispered to her. "I-it hurts s-so much Dave." Mel spoke weakly. "I know, I know. God. How did Fundy even manage to land a hit on you?" Techno asked, becoming angry again. "I...was whispering to you when he....got the jump on me..." Mel responded, barely being able to stay conscious. "Hey, don't you dare fall asleep. We are almost there, I can see the entrance." He said, trying to run faster. Once a little closer Techno started to yell, "Wilbur! Tommy! One of you help! Quick! Please! Please!" Tommy was the first to appear into sight, gasping when he saw Mel and rushing back inside. Techno reached the entrance and layed Mel down on his bed, and saw Tommy quickly brewing some healing potions. "Tommy you watch and help her while I finish the potions." Techno said. "O-ok, should we remove the sword?" Tommy asked, his voice being a little shaky. "Yes, if you could do that for me it would be appreciated." Techno responded. Tommy nodded and looked down at Mel, hesitating to move closer to her. "Do it Tommy, it's needed. It's ok if you hurt me, I'll be fine." Mel said, trying to reassure him. Tommy looked frightened and worried but moved closer and grabbed the hilt of the sword. "Do it Tommy! Pull the sword out! Do- aghhhhh!" Mel yelled out in pain as Tommy pulled the sword out. Once she had yelled Tommy dropped the sword and started crying, "I'm sorry, please don't hate me, I'm sorry." Technoblade quickly approached and started to have Mel drink the healing potion. Once the bottle was empty Mel fell into a deep slumber to help with the healing process. "See Tommy, she is going to be just fine. Don't cry." Techno said as he patted the top of Tommy's head. Tommy looked up at Mel and moved closer to rest his head on the edge of the bed. "How long till she wakes up?" He asked. "I don't know, it always depends on the person but she's a strong girl so I think it won't be too long." Techno replied. "I'm going to stay here till she does wake up." Tommy said. "Sounds good." Techno responded. With the end of that conversation Techno grabs his diamond axe and heads outside of the base. Tommy watched him leave with curious eyes, but didn't stop him. Not too long after the sun begins to set and Tommy grows worried of where Wilbur, who had left earlier in the day, and Techno were. He feared that they might have been caught by Manburg or its allies. Tommy knew it was unlikely, so he pushed the thought aside and started to cook some potatoes for when Mel woke up. Soon it is the dead of night and Tommy has fallen asleep, resting beside the bed Mel was occupying, when Wilbur returned. He first noticed Tommy and sighed, "Tommy why are you sleeping on the floor next to Techno's bed?" Wilbur questioned as he shook Tommy awake. With a yawn Tommy spoke, "Shhhh Wilbur, I'm waiting for Mel to wake up and for everyone to return." He said, still tired. Wilbur's eyes quickly looked up and found that Mel was indeed asleep on the bed, he growled and grew angry.
