When I got down to the Great Hall, everyone was talking about today's Quidditch match, Gryffindor against Slytherin. Draco seemed very excited.
"Potter, you should watch out today," he sneered as we walked past the Gryffindor table.
"Oh yeah? Why, because your father will hear about it?" Harry sarcastically answered, amusement in his voice. The Gryffindors laughed while Draco shot them sharp glares. I glanced at the table, but as soon as I saw Potter I turned back around.
"He'll be knocked off his broom so hard he'll end up as deep in the ground as his parents," Draco scoffed as we sat down. Goyle and Crabbe were practically roaring with laughter.
"That's.. harsh," I mumbled, not feeling extremely amused.
On my way out of the Hall, I suddenly heard a familiar 'hem hem' behind me. I turned around and felt all of my joy disappear as I saw Umbridge.
"Unfortunately, Miss Malfoy, you won't be able to see the Quidditch match," she informed, smiling sweetly.
"What?" I exclaimed, my eyebrows furrowing in anger.
"Oh dear, I'm not sure you understand. You're still not finished with your detention. You will be in my classroom during the match," she gladly told me before walking back to the professor's table.
"I think I seriously might murder her," I hissed to Draco and stormed out of the hall, many people staring at me.
-
"Cora! So, you're not coming to watch the game?" Millicent asked when she spotted me in the common room.
I sighed. "No."
"Can't you like, reschedule your detention or something?"
"It doesn't really work that way," I answered briefly. "Now please, get out of my way."
I was avoiding everyone until the match was about to start and then headed to Umbridge's classroom. She was waiting for me, looking rather cheerful.
"Miss Malfoy, you will continue with your previous work."
"I already organized your books-"
"Then you will organize every other shelf in my classroom. Good luck," she said, about to close the door.
"Wait, where are you going?" I quickly asked.
"I wouldn't wanna miss the first game of Quidditch this year," Umbridge smiled before leaving the classroom.
"Seriously?!" I groaned. Does that toad get to go watch the match while I have to stay here putting her useless stuff in the right places? No way.
I snuck out of the classroom. Since I didn't see anyone I rushed down the stairs. One floor down, I heard Filch speaking to his cat.
"Oh shit," I irritably whispered to myself. I knew Filch had overheard me and Umbridge in the Great Hall and knew I was supposed to be in detention. Surprisingly both he and his cat were too stupid to notice me standing behind a pillar.
After a few minutes, it was completely silent, so I stuck my head out. Nobody was around.
When I got down to the arena all fourteen players were already in the air. Gryffindor had 10 points and Slytherin 40. Draco noticed me standing under the seats. I winked and started laughing.
Two people showed up from my left. Two Ravenclaws, both having blonde hair but different shades.
"Cora, hi," April smiled, but then narrowed her eyes. "You're not supposed to be here, are you?"
