Toriel kept leading them down the winding forest path. The moonlight broke through the shadow of the leaves like small spot lights and at the edge of the path were strange faintly glowing flowers that showed like moonlight themselves. The forest was quiet and asleep with the only sound being of the faint chirping of crickets. After a while of walking Frisk peered around Toriel and a village that had looked abandoned for a long time stood tall in the dense forest. One house that seemed in the best of shape was closest to the end of the trail and the glow of light broke through the drapes of the house. Toriel walked up to the house and opened the large wooden door."This village used to be a monster village before the war," Toriel said with a hint of sadness to her voice, "But, I am happy to see it still standing today," She said motioning Frisk and Asriel into the house with a gentle smile.
Frisk and Asriel both walked in to find to the right of the entrance was a small living room with a fireplace popping and crackling with a strong blaze. Then farther into the house was a kitchen which looked like it still needed to be thoroughly cleaned which branched off to a hallway. The only thing besides the fireplace that was in the living room was an old forest green couch that looked like it had a layer of dust coating the top of it.
Asriel smiled brightly and looked amazed at the old house, "Wow! This is amazing! It's so old!" He said with much enthusiasm. Then he proceeded to fling himself onto the dusty couch. As soon as Asriel hit the cushions a ploom of dust exploded from the force and he giggled loudly.
Frisk walked over and sat in front of the couch and stared into the fire, the feeling was beginning to bother him, he needed to talk to her. Frisk let out a sigh and decided to step outside and stood once again.
"I'll be right back, I just want to enjoy tonight for a little bit," Frisk said as he approached the door and gripped the old brass handle.
Toriel who was currently cleaning the kitchen looked up from scrubbing the old counter top and nodded, "Very well my child, just don't stay out too late."
Frisk then swung open the door and stepped outside into the crisp late summer night. The stars were shining bright and a full moon lit up the dark sky. He looked around for a second and saw a clearing a little ways away from the house where a wood chopping block sat with tall weeds climbing up the sides. He walked over to the stump and took a seat then looked down at his hands which he fiddled in his lap.
"Are you mad?" Frisk asked to seemingly nothing.
After a minute of nothing but crickets and the soft rustle of bushes Frisk could feel a cold pressure on his shoulder.
"What do you think?" A voice echoed in his ear full of venom.
Frisk took in a sharp breath, "Why are you mad, are you mad at me?" He asked looking up from his lap.
But this time there was nothing but silence in reply to his question. He sat there for a minute and decided carefully on his next words.
"I'm...I'm going to bring you back, at least, I'm going to find a way," He said with a determined look on his face and his fidgeting came to a stop.
Once again there was a long minute of silence and the cold pressure went away. Frisk shifted and looked around. Finally the silence was broken by one word, "Idiot".
"Why would you ever do that?" The voice once again said and it almost had a hint of amusement but still kept a cold tone.
Frisk immediately responded, "Everyone deserves to be saved, Chara," he said with hope in his voice.
