The Child Of Prophecy (A Naruto Fanfiction)

Prologue

"Kushina..." Minato was looking at Kushina in surprise as she restrained the nine-tails.

"I can do it with the chakra I have left, and I'll be able to save you both. So thank you, for everything you've done." Kushina smiled at Minato as he held Naruto in his arms.

Minato could feel his heart breaking as he heard the love of his life speak. "Kushina. You're the one, it was you that made me the Fourth Hokage. You made me a man, and you made me this baby's father. And yet..."

"Oh Minato, please don't give me that sad look. I'm happy, because you love me, and what's more, today is the birthday of our beautiful child. But most of all, if I were to imagine me alive, and our future, the three of us together as a family, I can't really picture us as being anything but truly happy. I guess, if I were allowed just one regret, I wish I could have seen Naruto all grown up. I wish I could have seen that."

"I can't be a substitute for you, Kushina." Minato had tears streaming down his face, as he realized he couldn't change her mind.

"You don't have to be." Kushina reached out and grabbed Minato's hand. "Just stay with Naruto, and watch over him."

Minato knew that he couldn't change her mind, she was way too stubborn for that, so he decided to get the sealing altar ready instead. "Alright Kushina..." He had to take a deep breath before facing her. "Everything is ready."

At Kushina's request Minato laid Naruto down in the small bed in the center of the altar before turning towards her once again. "I love you, Kushina. So much." Minato let more tears fall from his eyes, knowing this was the last time he would be able to talk to her.

"I know, Minato. I love you too, and tell Naruto I love him so much." Kushina took one last look at the two she loved the most before closing her eyes. "Eight-sign seal."

Minato closed his eyes as a flash of light surrounded them. When he opened them again, the nine-tailed fox was gone, and there was a seal mark on Naruto's stomach. Kushina was lying on the ground, and he already knew she was gone. Minato picked up Naruto carefully, cradling him in his arms. "You'll be okay, Naruto. I'll always be here for you."

Suddenly Minato could hear the sound of people running towards him. He had his guard up until he heard the concern in their voices.

"Minato, what happened?" The voice of the previous Third Hokage jolted him out of his own thoughts.

"Lord Hiruzen." Minato gripped Naruto tighter in his arms as he began to explain what had happened.

Right after Naruto was born, there was a man in a mask who was able to get past the barrier that was set up. He got to Naruto and attached paper bombs to him, and saving him distracted me enough so he could steal Kushina. After I got Naruto to a safe house I went after Kushina, but I was too late. By the time I got there, the man had already pulled the nine-tails from her and was controlling it. I was able to bring her to where Naruto was before coming back to the village. That's when I transported that bomb away.

Before I could go after the nine-tails the same masked man attacked me and I was forced to fight him. All of my attacks seemed to go right through him, but I was finally able to land one decisive blow to him, which seemed to stop him from controlling the nine-tails. Being injured he retreated by what looked like some sort of transportation technique, saying that he would be back to bring destruction to the shinobi world.

After I was finished fighting him, I returned with Gamabunta to help fight the nine-tails. In order to protect the village I transported him away and brought Naruto and Kushina too. I didn't have much Chakra after transporting the nine-tails, and I was going to use the rest of it to seal the nine-tails away, but Kushina wouldn't let me.
