After that whole 'scheme' (forgive my choice of words, it's not what you think!), Kali and Jessie obviously got caught for having missed half of school. Kali's parents brought her home, scolding her all the way.
"We just don't know what's gotten into, Kali. This is so not like you" Jane told her daughter.
"You care to explain why you were late to school today?" Walter asked his daughter.
"Whaaaat! Pssh, I just decided it was better to walk cause school bus gas fuels are bad for the environment, come on. I took a shortcut through the woods and low and behold I get lost. Pretty crazy, am I right?" Kali said, her voice becoming all awkward and chuckled nervously.
Jane and Walter just gave their daughter that look, knowing she was in fact hiding something.
"Please, Kali, you think we don't know our own daughter" They both said to her, wanting the truth.
Kali sighed in defeat. Nothing could ever get past her parents.
"Okay... The real reason I was late because I was out over at Jessie's house helping her save a sick reindeer we found in the woods a few days ago. And that's not even the craziest part..." She explained, hesitating for a moment before she breathed out. "Its Prancer... One of Santa's..."
Walter and Jane just looked to her and listen.
"I know that it sounds weird, or crazy, or not even possible at all... But it is. And if we don't get him back to Santa soon, no kids will get their presents this Christmas. There might not even be a Christmas this year" She told her parents, now showing clear desperation in her voice.
Walter and Jane looked at each other for a moment, then back at Kali.
"Okay..." They said to her.
"Really?!" Kali looked confused. "I mean, really. You believe me?"
"Of course we believe you, sweetheart" Jane said to her daughter.
"And after all the crazy things we've seen you do, you think we wouldn't?" Walter added.
The tomboy smiled and came up to hug her parents. "Thanks guys"
"Anytime" They both said.
"Oh, and we're trying to keep it a secret cause you know, the whole 'keeping Santa's existence hidden' or else the whole universe could be destroyed. So, please don't tell the twins" Kali mentioned.
"Sure thing" Walter nodded.
"Just be careful" Jane reminded her daughter, being overprotective as she always was since she was a mom after all.
Kali smiled at them again. She literally had the coolest parents.
Later that evening, Kali came over to Jessie's house, both coming to the shed to see Prancer with some Xmas decorations and some food for him. The girls soon had the shed all decorated and were now sitting down with Prancer, reading to him the famous book "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus"
Kali sighed with a delightful smile while she sat with her friend and the reindeer. "I love this story"
Jessie then turned the page, telling Prancer. "This is the part I told you about"
As Kali and Prancer glanced at each other they snuggled in together while Jessica read them her favorite and perhaps the most famous passage from the story.
"You tear apart the baby's rattle, see what makes noise inside. But there's a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man could tear apart"
