The Life She Wished

PART SIX

Bri was in a horrible state....

So so so horrible. One couldn't even tell it was her.

Her body was so bruised, with red and black marks, swollen face. She was mercilessly beaten.

Tears welled up in my eyes seeing her like that.

The doctors get busy on her and they chase us out of the emergency ward.

I silently sit on the floor and my mind just goes blank.

I look over at Renee's parents, Carl and my parents. Their faces had mixed emotions.

Fear, worry, relief, hate... Every emotion one could think of.

We sat there and finally after an hour the doctor comes out and walks over to us.

"we have to operate on her. The beating she received caused her internal organs to rapture causing internal bleeding."

Ohh noo...

"please doctor, do all you can to save our daughter." Renee's dad spoke.

Mrs Brooks just broke into tears.

I can't even imagine how she feels.
She's like my second mom, i feel so sad for what she's going through.

"we will. Please I need you to sign some papers before the surgery."

"sure" Mr Brooks spoke.

We waited for Renee's parents to return and Renee was taken to the operating room.

I silently pray she becomes better and comes out alive.

Hours later

We all stand up when the doctors comes back.

"the operation was successful but she needs to be monitored closely  so we will keep her for a week in the hospital."

"OH thank goodness."Renee's mom exclaims and runs to the doctor and gives him an enormous hug.

The hug almost took him out.

" can we see her? " i ask

" yes, but two people at a time." he responds and takes his leave

I stare at Carl who has relief all over his face and everybody else looks happy that Renee is safe.

Renee's parents go in first, followed by mine then it was Carl and I

I guess they save best for last

Renee looked so peaceful on her bed. I'm grateful she's in no pain at the moment and resting.

"hi baby girl," i quietly say to her even though she cannot hear me. "I'm sorry I was not around to stop him. I should have gone with you to the bathroom...I'm so sorry Renee. I truly am."

I cry... I let it all out.

Carl comes behind me and rubs my back.

We talk to her for a bit and tell her all she's missed and she should get better because we are missing her.

I leave after a while in order to give Carl some time with her.

We later on leave after staying for a while but Renee's mom stays behind to look after her.

We arrive home and i decide to call Nigel.

"hey princess."

"hey, how was your day?"

"lonely without you." he says with sincerity in his tone

"haha lies but I'll fall for it."
