When we got home that day I began searching the apartment for the manuscript. Shit, where the hell did I put it? I thought to myself. "Hey, Sam?" I asked.

                        "Yeah?"

"Do you remember if I brought my bag to the restaurant?"

"I think you did. Maybe you left it in the car." Sam said, as she came out of her room and tossed the keys to me. I caught it  with both hands and replied, "Thanks!"

I headed to the car and looked through the front seat but nothing was there. Just as I was about to give up hope on finding my bag I noticed a handle sticking out in the back. Thank god! I thought to myself as I pulled it out from under the back seat. I wouldn't be able to do my job without this and then I'd be in some deep shit with my boss? I thought as I breathed out a sigh of relief.

Once I managed to grab it I headed back home and changed into some more comfortable clothes. "What are you doing, Asma?" Sam asked, as I put some hot water to boil

"Making tea, do you want some?" I inquired.

"I'm good... thanks, though." Sam replied as she grabbed some chocolate from the fridge. "Want one?"

"I'm good with the tea, but thanks for the offer. Good luck with your clients tomorrow!" I said, with a smile. Sam worked as a therapist and saw multiple clients a day. She had a Masters degree in Counseling and was in her last year of residency while I was a junior editor at TypeRight Publishing company. We became friends in college and somehow managed to remain friends ever since.

The rest of the night was spent reading the manuscript. My boss wasn't always nice, but he's fair. I suppose that's all anyone can ask for when working with someone. You don't need to be instant friends with your boss but if you're both considerate of each other's feelings and work ethic then that's important. After drinking the tea I stayed up until I got through a majority of the book before falling asleep.

I ended up waking up suddenly with a sudden craving for cheesecake since the story I read was a scene where the two main characters (Alyssa and Karter) decided to meet at the Cheesecake Factory to discuss the case they had to work on for class over cheesecake since it was also pretty late by the time class was over. I decided that tomorrow during lunch I'd order one just so that I'd stop thinking about it.

When I finally woke up to the sound of my alarm I quickly got out of bed knowing that if I didn't hurry up and finish reading the book then I would be in some deep shit with my boss. He might not always be the nicest, but I love the work I'm doing so we've learned to tolerate each other. It's all about compromising and learning to do whatever the hell your boss tells you to do within a timely manner. I think that all that matters is that you give it your all. Like for me, I was nearing the end of the book when my alarm rang again which was my cue to start getting ready for work and worry about the book later.

So far the book had taken a surprising turn because the two characters- Alyssa and Karter are getting intel from a mysterious anonymous source that somehow got Alyssa's number. However, Karter isn't sure it would be a smart choice to follow the lead but Alyssa thinks it doesn't hurt to try since it's not like they had any other leads anyway.

Unfortunately,  it didn't have an ending but the whole story was so compelling. The draft stopped when the two characters were about to meet the anonymous source. As I finished getting dressed for work I knew that I wanted to inform my boss about why I wanted to contact the author so that I could represent this book.
